The fans and press can do whatever they want. I've never heard of a team losing a series because their fans and local press were looking ahead.

That being the case, everyone here can look ahead to Boston all they want. It won't make a difference.

Except for Mark in Tulsa, of course, because he's really Derek Fisher and he needs to put all of his focus on the next few games.

If you are worried about them sweeping us, you're either in a straight jacket typing with your nose and suffering from hourly panic attacks... or you have a life of absolutely no worries at all. One extreme or the other.

As should be the case. The fans don't practice or play in games.

Honestly, if the Lakers lost to Phoenix in the WCF it would be an epic choke of legendary proportions.

The Suns Really? 37 year old Steve Nash. No D Amare. Two left feet Lopez. One dimensional Dudley.

OP, even Phil mentioned how disappointed he was with the fans at staples when he finally understood they were chanting "we want boston".

so don't sweat it. they are focused on getting this done first.

Can't wait for the game!!!!! I think Phoenix is going to get off to a great start with the crowd behind them and we just need to weather the storm until they cool off. I think the only way the suns can beat us, is if they blow us out because, they won't be able to get the important stops at the end of a close game. Lakers 119 Suns 109, LA pulls away late again.

we need to win this game to send a message that the killer instinct is back!

whatever it takes!! stay focus on the game plan, pound the ball inside..defend the cutting lanes and the pick and rolls...

GO LAKERSSS!!

I hope the Laker's tighten the defensive screws in this one. We need to tighten our rotations, they're getting sloppy, especially Kobe getting back to Dudley.

Foot on throat time.

No need to give the Suns any thoughts of additional life in this series.

After the Magic's complete dismantling at the hands of the Celtics last night, these Lakers need to send the message to both the Suns and the Celtics that they are a force to recon with - not that they haven't so far. But it is time to leave no doubt.

PostPosted: Sun May 23, 2010 9:36 am    Post subject: Why the lakers should win game 3

....and possibly sweep.

this playoff season is tailor made for the lakers and celtics. both teams have some age, and the lakers have some injuries.

think back to 2008 when boston was having a tough time with atlanta (7 games), then with cleveland (7 games...looked bad on the road with several blowouts in both series). then the schedule suddenly gave them a couple days off between games (maybe against the cavs?). suddenly the celtics looked like themselves again.

in the 2010 playoffs the lakers have multiple players with bruises & dings. okc pushed the lakers to their athletic limits but the after the lakers figured out what they were doing, l.a. used their supreme talent to take away okc's strengths (shot blocking, shooting, speed, fast breaks) on both ends of the court. series over.

a couple jazz were injured but it didnt stop them from beating denver. the lakers went up 2-0 as expected, then they got a major break with 3 days off before playing again in utah. the injured and/or old lakers healed and rested. even though the jazz rested too, at home they didn't need it. they need their opponent to be exhausted while they got an adrenaline boost from their crowd. the lakers took utah's best punch in game 3 & survived the last second missed tipped shot. by game 4, utah had no more adjustment's to make so the lakers had them figured out and finished them off.

the lakers waited 7 more days to play the suns and healed some more. jerry west and others worried about the team not flowing with that layoff but the suns were off too. the biggest significance of that was fisher got to rest. kobe, bynum, ron, lamar, shannon, and sasha got to heal. shooters like kobe, ron, and jordan got to work on their outside shots more, and it showed. media tried to make a big deal about lakers injuries, but they were rested and that was more important.

now the lakers had ANOTHER 3 day layoff and their old injured team will benefit from it again. the suns will have noise, energy, and be as pumped as they can get. the lakers arent guaranteed to take game 3, but there's a very good chance they will. channing frye's shot release is too slow so he cant shoot comfortably when the quick lakers defense rotates to him. they depend on him to be part of the great bench we heard they had. nash isn't going to be any faster and amare wont play any better defense than he has already. if the win game 3, the lakers just might sweep this series because there arent many adjustments teams can make going into the 4th game of the series. they just keep trying to execute what they've already practiced, but if it doesnt work, you go fishing.

the celtics have a similar benefit of scheduling though i dont think they had 7 days off. the various breaks in the nba schedule to accomodate tv watching and advertising have benefited l.a. more than ever before.

I'd be surprised if Lakers didn't win tonight. Surprised and disappointed. If we have time off we need to capitalize.

surprised really? I hope we win because I am going to the game but I would not be surprise if the home team wins a playoff game at home.

We don't need to play D in this series. Our offense is better than there offense. We will beat them at there own game...
