This guy's such a senile ref homer. |
Its true, no ref is going to blow his whistle in the final seconds for that type of call. It really wasn't an obvious call. |
That's complete bs, because otherwise we would've done it the next trip down. Refs gotta call fouls when they're fouls, esp. crucial ones. I get that the playoffs are reffed differently/tougher, which I like, but when it's a one-possession game w/ less than 20 or so seconds to go, you can't miss those big calls because they could be series changers. _________________ In Rob I trust.

errr, yeah. pau had his man boxed out. it was kobe who was just kinda hanging out and watching while his man almost pulled a pau gasol to win the game. |

Not true. The refs should have made that call. I noticed that foul when it happened, and I couldn't believe it! Even Stuart Scott called it out! Fisher was dragged down and it was obvious.
As for Hubie Brown, he's a mediocre commentator at best. How many times have you noticed he trips over his words when he's talking? It's so annoying when he'll explain something and will repetitively use the word "meaning this" or"meaning that"... |

i heard what hubie brown said too. based on the excitement in their voices and their 1 sided comments, the announcers were so obviously rooting for the jazz, it was just an "i cant stand the lakers and want the jazz to win" type comment. the defender had his right hand around the right side of fisher's waist and stopped his progress to the ball, causing him to fall to his left even though he was trying to move right. since they won, i'm not mad that the refs didn't see it, but dont tell me you're not going to get that call. it was a very legitimate foul call. |

Lakers come out like they have something to prove, control the game for 34 minutes, and have that typical Laker meltdown that we're all too familiar with to end the 3rd, and Utah closes it out in the 4th. (That's the exact thing that happened last year in G3 in Utah).
or
Utah plays inspired ball from the opening tip behind their home crowd, get a big lead and sustains it with the help of the refs.
Either way, I see a loss. Lakers have no sense of urgency when up 2-0. 1-4 the last 3 years in Game 3's when up 2-0. |
they've never had the rest in those games that they had this time. most people dont realize how much of a difference it makes. you can want to play hard all game, but at some point your body will give out. when you play at home, adrenaline makes up for fatigue. the lakers will have zero fatigue factor, thus the meltdown you'll be waiting for isn't an automatic. |
see, toldja. |

lakersboy wrote: | lucius mentioned the key. rest. the lakers havent played since tuesday and that's huge for all of them who are nursing injuries: kobe, odom, artest, brown, even farmar. i dont know how a few days will help bynum's knee injury, but it cant hurt.
mostly in the playoffs you get a day off, travel, then play again. the lakers had 3 days to recover and when your body is old and/or beat up, that's huge. we all saw how snaq had better stats in phx when he was allowed to play every other game. the celts were on the ropes in the 08' playoffs before they got an extra day and then knocked out their opponent. i even got the impression the cav's badly needed the extra time off to help them beat the celts today (friday) since lebron had injury issues and shaq is just old.
game 3 is always about adjustments, but i've never seen so much time between games like this before. when both teams are tired, you go home, get the crowd to pump you up, and the other team plays tired. now everyone is rested. advantage lakers.
i'm not going to guarantee a win, but i think they have a great chance to go up 3-0. | |
