showing up for two games out of the entire season isnt an excuse for Fisher to still be starting. |

I've been hating Fisher's game since I've been here and chronicled why ad nauseum. No need to repeat it here. He has great intangible strengths and severe skill and judgment weaknesses. How you react to Fish depends on what you value and what you abhor.
For his clutch playoff shots on one side you have Bibby and Hudson lighting him on fire on the other. I just have one request through all of it. Play within your limits, make good decisions and don't hurt the team. He was a primary author of a loss to Boston on both ends and that will always bring out the rancor. Nature of the best. |

We all appreciate what Fish has done in the past, but he is a total liability now. On a team, you always attack the weakest link and I can see the opposing PG's eyes when they play against the Lakers. |

I don't fault Fish, he's not the bone head who demanded a timeout with 6 seconds left, when the Celtics were in disarray and Lamar was attacking the basket. As I posted in DB's thread, what exactly was the point of the timeout? We didn't have a player who could create a shot, and we didn't have a PG capable of creating for others. We only had two hot hands, one of whom just sprained his shoulder, the other one attacking the basket when time was called. What was the point? We also allowed the Celtics to make substitutions and get set defensively. I don't care if the time keeper gave us 5 whole seconds instead of 2.2; we weren't going to score. |
I'm not saying the Lakers would have scored for sure - but if they had given Lamar the ball setting a screen freeing him up for a jumper - like they do for Kobe - I think Lamar would have taken it and had a great look.
Lamar has been very fluid this year in taking his jumper, especially coming off screens. He had been feeling it all game. Although he is nowhere near a great shooter he has shown he can hit the jumper this year.
The last shot should have gone to Lamar IMO. If there were 5 seconds even gave him time to do a quick iso and maybe either pull up or drive left. |

You're going to get the standard answers about Fish:
"We wouldn't be in that position if we had a better PG."
"We would be winning by 20 so that point would be moot."
Yada yada yada... |

I posted this in another thread, but I think it's more appropriate here.
jaylen wrote: | every year a player of particular choice falls in the cross hairs and this season its Fish. I never thought this level of vitriol would come at Fish after the Smushcalade left town. lol you guys crack me up. Fish is toast but he'll make a big shot when it matters to turn opinion for a few days.
His layup attempts are just dreadful. sotmach turning bad. |
I'm not saying this is your argument, but I hear this often from people when we talk about DFish. I've been a long time Laker fan for decades and I can't stomach to see him out there anymore. It's not because he's my whipping boy or anything like that. It's just apparent that he's no longer an asset to the team on the court.
The whole thought process that if he makes a clutch or key shot all will be forgiven for awhile is short-sighted at best. Let's say Fish hits that jumper at the buzzer last night and the Lakers win. He would have still played a horrible game. He still would've have been 2 for 9 (instead of 1 for 9) and allowed Ray Allen to make 9 of 10 shots.
The team wouldn't have even been in that situation to begin with if Fish was even competent last night (or Brown for that matter) and he obviously wasn't. As a Laker fan I want more than just a good shot from Fish here and there. He actually needs to produce a good GAME or two more often. He is shooting 38% from the FIELD. Fish needs to shoot 38% from 3 to be effective.
Last year was last year. The Lakers reached the Finals in spite of Fish's poor play and finally he delivered with some key shots in the Finals. We may not be so lucky this year to even get there if he can't turn it around a little or Farmar/Brown don't prove they can finish games instead. |

I'm glad he is taking it personally. It shows that he cares about winning. He's continuing to grow as a player. Hopefully he can improve his jumper and ball handling enough to be our starting SG in about 2 years - when Kobe goes to the SF position full time. |

He played good, we lost by one. He's not a closer thats why he didn't know what to do.
These guys are not like kobe. Kobe has that mind set that every shot he's going to shoot is money. Fish is like that too. |

While yes he did, the 2nd one hit nothing but net.
Both were open shots. A miss is a miss. His defense in the 4th however was fine and then it became worse when Phil put Fisher back into the game. Hmm |

That would be on Ron.
The in bounder has to know who the play is set up for. If he can't get it to him, then going to Fish is his idea.
And the Lakers did have a TO.
So no reason for Ron to throw that to Fish if he thought it was the wrong play. Must have thought it was the right play. |
fish was supposed to open the floor for a different pass, he didn't do that which made the right pass not possible so artest had to settle for fisher but that is on fisher phil even said he broke his cut. which means he broke the play. so obviously at that point with 5 seconds going down you got to make the pass. fish=fail |

I'm not usually a glass half full type of guy but considering that
1) Obviously, no Kobe
2) Ray Allen destroyed our guards. You have to expect a game like once in a while for a guy of his skill but of his age. We got unlucky it was against us, but surely the swiss cheese defense didn't help.
3) The rest of the Celtics as a team played the game of their season.
4) Our defense still got stingy when it mattered
5) there still was a chance to win the game on the last possession.
I am completely comfortable with the fact that Boston is beatable in a 7 game series down the strecth if we face them in the finals.
If I were a Celtics fan, I'd be more concerned it took easily the best game of the season to beat a Kobe-less Laker team. That's not a good sign. |

With the way that game started, Allen dropping J's like he wasn't even guarded it looked like it was going to be a long night for Laker fans. However, Lakers kept it close. Still painful to see the Lakers lose and the Cavs losing that same day.
Still a lot to be happy about. I like seeing that hard driving Odom. Even Sasha had his moments in the 4th. Brown getting those end game minutes will help come playoff time. Pau's game is coming around.
Win or lose this 5 game stretch without Kobe has been very good for the team. Lakers seem to be a bit out of sync the entire season. Not nearly as sharp as last year this same time. You have to like the way the Lakers have pulled it together these last 2 weeks.
A healthy Kobe plus the Lakers we have been seeing these last 2 weeks has got a real shot a repeating. |

Defensive much? If you can find the last time Sasha blamed himself for a loss, then I'll stand corrected. Go ahead, I'll wait, but he really should be apologizing after every game that he is allowed to step foot on the floor. |
In Sasha’s post-game interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sasha said, “It was kind of my fault also; I came in and missed 4 easy shots… they (Nuggets) came back in the game and caught momentum.” When asked why he was taking the blame for the game, he responded saying, “I’ll take the blame for tonight’s game, I mean, you know, first half was a total disaster on my part. I can’t wait to play game 3 in Denver.”
