Shawn Marion was a damn good player in his day. McKinnie has been G League at best so far. |

Big time ...... he was terrific out there. Want to see more of him, and I trust Vogel to bring the best out of his play. |

Definitely Mac's best game as a Laker!
Quote: | Dancing Barry said it best:
McKinnie -- -- He had to run as our small ball PF with the thin front court we had. That meant matching up with guys like Griffin and KD.
Just a very scrappy job. The Lakers depth at PF is a problem at the moment. With no AD, LeBron, Kuzma and even Gasol who could slide Trezz down to PF, they needed some minutes from someone besides Morris.
Really impressed with McKinnie’s effort on the glass, as well. He had some nice work there despite us being undersized. He actually played big on the glass. Most impressive game from him in a Laker jersey as a result.
He got his first couple of scores on putbacks, one muscling his man, the other snatching a board from behind him and scoring. Late in the game, he knocked down a couple of threes.
The Stats: He scored 10 points on 4-6 shooting (2-4 from three, 0-2 from the line) to go with 9 boards (3 offensive), 4 assists, 1 steal and 4 fouls in 27 minutes. He was a +17. |

I'm having a hard time remembering when this guy hasn't played well in his limited minutes. He can play! |

Carving out a solid role player for himself. Can never have enough 3 & D wings.
He might become too expensive eventually but he can be a solid rotation contributor in the future, especially after a couple of seasons with Handy. It would be nice to keep him this offseason on the cheap. |

Yep. Reading EP's article about some of the hard decisions the FO will have to make means guys like McKinnie on their cheap contracts become even more valuable.
It will be a great "problem" to have if he becomes so good that we have to make a hard decision about him too in the future. |

I always loved this guy as deep depth but I was def. surprised by how well he played that small ball pf role! He battled for some tough rebounds and had some great put backs. All that while still being a 3p threat and knocking 2 of those down as well.
I could see him playing some very solid minutes in the Playoffs when needed due to injuries/foul trouble ala THT last season while the broadcasters act all shocked and surprised.
I take McKinnie over Griffin easily though for our specific roster as he is a great fit with many lineups without changing much around him. He can also guard the PG13/Kawhi/Durant etc. of the world which is going to be necessary at crucial times i'm sure this season. He's also much younger which if you look at all these deep depth and buyout guys the Lakers got, they're mostly right around there prime years.
Then you got guys like Griffin and LMA who obviously had the much better primes and can still have some nice offensive nights but they're 1 sided defensive liabilities which showed severely in the game against us and will continue to only get worse in the Playoffs especially if they aren't playing extremely efficient offensive basketball.
Somehow Rob just keeps getting "lucky" |

I think he can be what Bruce Brown does for Nets. |

He’s in Health and Safety (COVID) protocol right now so he’ll be out for at least a few games. |

Alonzo gave us 8 solid minutes in his return to action. 8 points (3-6 FG /2-3 3Pt), 2 rebounds |

He's way better than an end-of-the-bench player - he has substance but little flash so gets overlooked. |

If he can get into the game and give us 6-8 efficient points from time to time, he's an EXCELLENT asset to have. |

I've had my eyes on this Brown guy. Everytime I watch the Nets play he's always making the right play and playing intense defense. Really solid. |

I can easily see us picking up his option. We gonna lose some players next year but he has shown that he can play within the system and could develop as a rotational role player. |
