Can someone remind me why it was necessary to let TB go last year? Julius was renounced quickly, cuz they couldn't wait to give that money to Rondo.
Guys like Brook Lopez and Thomas Bryant weren't brought back cause they couldn't wait to fill the roster with rag tags like Lance Romance and Space Cadet Beaseley. Zubac for Muscala. It's a comedy of hits.
Unleash Hell, there is no spinning this. You could arrive at the same AD trade without some of these moves. |
Perhaps we didn't want to approach the threshold for guys like Zubac/Bryant, who make a combined $15M this year. AD figures to get a raise if all goes well, so we would probably cross that threshold this coming summer with long term deals for Zu/Bryant. McGee/Howard give us similar production to what their limited roles would be on this team.
Is being near/possibly exceeding the tax threshold worth a few Thomas Bryant threes in transition? Five of his seven attempts were early offense before anything was set up, within five seconds of a defensive rebound. Not the pace our starting unit wants to play with.
I can't find any silver linings in the Brook Lopez dumping though. He may have been gone anyway this year, but last year he could've been a trade asset, at the very least. |

Bryant’s cap hold was tiny though. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

McGee and Howard do not give us similar production, not anywhere close. And if they are afraid of the tax they need to sell the team. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
