Screw the 2nd units chemistry? NO. They have been too important to this 6-0 start to have someone screw with it now.
When Fish and Rad hit their shots, they are fine. When they don't, that's when trouble occurs. |

seriously, it's time for Rad to come off the bench and Ariza to start. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

This game was amazing to watch. But that block by Ariza...that was monsterous. I mean he literally flies through the air and swats away what most likely would have been a 3 pointer. That play was as good as any other defensive play I have ever witnessed.
And then he almost steals another ball almost right after that...
I think the entire Laker team did a great job on Defense, and holding Dallas under 100 points at home is simply amazing.
The Refs didn't call much at all this game which is fine by me. Either let them play or call everything. They let them play.
Lakers Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeefense won this game. We had a long dry spell in the last couple minutes that should have lost this game for us but we were able to stay on top the whole time.
THAT IS CHAMPIONSHIP BASKETBALL!
THAT IS WHAT KOBE HAS WANTED TO SEE SINCE LAST YEAR BEGAN!
GO LAKERS! |

Actually getting out rebounded the way we did was unacceptable. It was a lack of energy, heart and hustle. They were outworking us in the beginning. Credit the 2nd unit for turning that around.

Mavs got 39 points in the 2nd half, and still no opponent has scored over 100 on the Lakers |

sorry, but i hate it when people misuse "ironic". in these cases, it is coincidental. ironic is when something is completely opposite of what you expect _________________ anyone here in lakerland like the following musicians: Yngwie Malmsteen, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Angra, Vinnie Moore, Adagio, Tony MacAlpine, Steve Vai, George Bellas, Planet X, Pagan's Mind. if so, shout me a holla?! |

Come on guys, blaming Bynum for not boxing out Dampier is not fair at all. A lot of those shots were ugly Dallas shots, and watching how they bounced out of there was impossible to judge. Rebounds in the 2nd half were much better and if you win the game...it doesn't matter that Dampier got 12 O-Boards. |

I seriously don't understand what PUKE Walton is doing on our team.
If he has such a high bball IQ with the triangle and all, put him on your coaching staff, not on the court for christ's sake. |

Luke relives Phil's needs before every game...you know, Jeanie can't travel with the team. Phil just returns the favor by giving him minutes. But, Phil needs to have his priorities straight, he needs to put the team before his individual needs. |

i think it has less to do with any strategy and more to do with giving luke 3 minutes, yo. _________________ -Most people learn by saying mother, numb, horse, angry... I learned mine by saying Lakers, add gas. - HRD. |

This is 100% correct. And this is what i was not advocating. The ball in those instances should no go to Kobe. It just kills the time of the shotclock as the ball handler looks for Kobe. |
that started, i think, when farmar went out for fisher. that last possession of ours was terrible as well with fisher holding the ball up top for 18 seconds and then putting up a horrible and contested 18 footer that gasol fortunately cleaned up for us. |
That last possession actually reinforces the original point: the offense was too stagnant in the fourth quarter. No one came to the ball. Kobe was denied and there was no other movement or screens. So Fish took matters into his own hands which is what you should do in that situation. Unfortunately, he lacks the skill set to make something happen successfully. |
i was agreeing with him, and using the fisher possession to reinforce the point.

does anyone have team history stats on hand. what's the team record for most consecutive games holding opponents under 100? we have to be getting awfully close. _________________ "i was born down in the valley where the sun refused to shine, but i'm climbin' up to the highlands, goin' to make that mountain mine" ~ Lakers, 2011 |

Numbers wont even do justice to the impact that some of these guys had.
#24 helping to keep it close early, and then excellent 4th.
Postermaker, Game Changer, Ninja, whatever you want to call him, had impact that exceeded his numbers.
Bynum if nothing else, still was a steady anchor throughout the game. Although Dampier had a stretch where he was dominating, it wasn't all on Bynum.
The second unit in general, very timely impact when not much else was going right. |

Exactly. And I think this team is deep enough to handle some off nights by Fish and Rad. Phil has both units set up for maximum efficiency. Leave it alone. |

I was shocked like everyone else when Luke entered the game.

all those were not andrews fault. most of those came from guard penetration and when andrew rotated to stop penetration dampier rolled to the basket and scooped up the misses andrew was causing. you have to help the helper. in this case andrew got no help. _________________ "i was born down in the valley where the sun refused to shine, but i'm climbin' up to the highlands, goin' to make that mountain mine" ~ Lakers, 2011 |

Also, just how good is a team that can go on the road, play like crap on both ends, for 3 quarters, give up 60 points in a half, clank on the offensive end, and still pull out a win while holding the opposition to less than 100?
Another encouraging thing to note, Phil Jackson teams normally peak going into the playoffs. This team can still get better. |

Bingo. Look, folks, some games are going to be like sloshing through mud. The lakers were cold early, and the Mavs played over their heads for three-fourths of the game. The second unit was the difference.
They have exquisite chemistry right now -- you don't mess with that. They have a personality, an identity, and real espirit de corps. This won't be the last game where they spell the difference.
Don't fix what ain't broken.

Phil has a stiffy for Luke. No one really knows why, he just does.
So it's up to guys like Ariza to keep playing spectacular so as to ensure Luke's permanent job at the bottom of the bench. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |
