We have a best rum thread, so why not a whiskey thread? Not to sound sexist, but, let's face it; whiskey, along with beer, are real men drinks. I've known only a couple ladies who were into whiskey, and well, it turned me on. Within the last year I have really been getting into whiskey more and more. My favorite? Glenfiddich single malt scotch. No ice. Just pour me a glass of this stuff and I'm a happy man.
Please discuss. |

hey now! women drink whiskey!
I like Crown Royal. I usually drink it with 7-up or Vernors (Gingerale). _________________ "I define success by championships, by winning..." Kobe Bryant

Lagavulin, Talisker, Laphroaig.
Glenlivet and Glenfiddich are for tourists and douchebag businessmen smoking Dominican cigars
Seriously, there's a lot of good whiskey. I like peaty, smoky scotch, but there's some great Irish stuff, and even some of the Kentucky and Tennessee stuff is pretty interesting. _________________ “We must always take sides. I'm really not a fan of the peaty scotches. Fiddich is dominant! I can't wait to try the 15 and 18 yr. |

Maker's Mark. I can't drink Crown, Jack, or Jim any more.
Had some woodford reserve the other night which was good too. |

Johnie Walker Blue Label - had that once it was great but expensive.
But definitely can not go wrong with Jack. |

+1 on Maker's - that's what I will drink straight up or as a Manhattan.
Jack is the standby well swill to throw into a Jack and Coke.
I also dig woodford and elijah craig.
I use to drink Crown in norebangs back in my younger days, but I really can't take it any more - just not as smooth as something like Maker's. |

Makers & Ginger ale is a good mix for those that don't like it neat.
I usually just buy cheaper brands like Makers Mark, Johnnie Walker Red, Cutty Sark or Chivas. I've had Johnnie Walkers Blue one night and I could really taste the difference in quality. If I could afford it I'd probably have one in my hand right now instead on this delicious Flying Dog classic Pale Ale. |

Obviously not, judging by the Crown Royal responses.
I love single malt scotch, particularly the peaty ones (Laphroaig, Lagavulin), but then the more fruity taste of some of the Speysides (Macallan, Knockando) and one Highland (Glenmorangie) are great, especially with a Cuban (I sneak in my own contrabandista).
I love really old Knockando (18+ years)... besides, the name sounds like McAdoo, one of my Showtime favs. |

Whiskey is really my thing, but if I had to pick, I'd say Jack.
I'm more of a Vodka and Tequila guy. |

Jack Daniels is good but expensive.
Usually what is best is what is cheapest but with the stipulation that it won't make you go blind. |

Just don't buy the cheap stuff. You get less of a bad hangover, and the good stuff goes down smoother. |
