Nice under the radar move and helps offset the age issue.

Simmons was enjoying our offseason until he saw the names Monk and Nunn.

Hey, he should count his blessings, at least we took away both these dynamic scorers away from the Eastern Conference so they can't harm his beloved Green Vomit.

Everyone linking him as a Lou Williams. Let me throw in a name… Richard rip Hamilton. Could be his ceiling. For some odd reason, he was listed as 6’7”. No way, It always seemed Kobe was taller than him.

I don’t care who u compare him to, but if Vogel gives him minutes which is between him & Wayne (cause I believe THT & Nunn get minutes) one of THT or Monk play SF or the 3 guard set.

If Monk balls out & gets same production from last year, I hope we can retain him with THT & Nunn for another contract… These youthful guys n bargain deals help ease the pain of selling out for vets to please LBJ.

I have no doubt about THT balling out especially if he improved his 3 pt shooting. I was won over by Nunn when he schooled us in finals & then Monk stepped his Kentucky talent of maturity last year so hopefully Vogel gets these kids minutes & rests LBJ & Russ for those extra minutes during the season.

We all know the bench failed us last year & we suffered when LBJ sat, I think this year with Nunn & another year from THT we’re gonna be a lot better on offensive end & Monk is just a huge upside & bonus for us providing they get minutes!!! Monk can get at least half of Kuz’s minutes & Trevor & Carmelo can have the rest in front court with Dwight…

Maybe people are likening him to those 2 guys because of overall body size and type. And probably the hope is that he can develop into that level of shooter (he can get hot for sure). But check out his highlight clips. He is WAY more athletic and explosive than those 2, so very different type of player IMO. However, if he develops into that caliber shooter? Combine that with his athleticism and we will have a star.

He's got a level of athleticism that Rip or Lou can only dream about. He's both quick & fast. The perfect example of the term "elite". Great stroke on his jumper. Brings youth, athleticism, and shooting.

We'll score plenty with LeBron, AD, Carmelo, etc., on board but he, like all of the other newcomers, must commit on the defensive end or their contributions will be limited.

Lou Williams?!

Go watch his dunks and tell me if you see Lou Williams

Lou is just a foul baiting player. Monk has legit skills.

Um.... have you seen young Lou Williams's dunks?

Yes I know Lou had dunks when he was younger Monk has a couple of inches on him. I would say it’s really more than what’s provably listed. Lou doesn’t look anything above 6’

My bad on thinking the comparison was to the current version of Lou Williams…as in the unathletic, foul baiting player. Monk is more than that…

Don’t worry I watch a lot of basketball. Just because I’ve challenged some of your takes on certain players doesn’t mean I don’t watch

Monk has the making of an explosive 6th man of the bench. I hope both he and THT get consistent minutes and roles this year.

Not sure how they'll stagger the big 3's minutes but Nunn-Monk-THT could slap teams in the face at the end of the 1st.

I could see Vogel leaning on players like Baze and Ariza for their defense. Obviously Melo is in the rotation. I just hope we don’t miss out not playing an offensive threat like him or Ellington.

Big fan of Monk when he was in college, so I'm really excited about this pickup. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but if he develops and plays well this year, what type of contract can we give him next offseason? Do we have his bird rights, or would we have to use the vet min/MLE?

After one year with a team, a player gains Non-Bird rights, and teams can offer them a 20 percent raise on their previous salary to stick around without touching their cap exceptions.

With monk, THT and WB on the team, there's gonna be some nice dunks by our guards this year.

Monk is one of the few signings that really caught me off guard. They usually love to sign players who have great games or generally play well against them. Monk is a good player but has struggled as a Lakers opponent.
