KCP needs more than a few shots a game. Unfortunately he cannot create (a common Laker problem). I have not seen much of McLemore but he has a higher career 3pt percent than KCP. He is having an awful year this year, but on that team, nobody is getting open looks. Prior two years .415 and .400 from 3. Let's see what comes of his game. Did you really think you were getting something else in the scrap heap?

McKinnie or Dudley could be on the way out now, Lance "Make em Dance" Stephenson is still available and we need a 3&D wing after we just got a big and 3pt shooter.

Lance? Really?

Big Pass.

Defensively he's limited.

He is a 3 pt specialist

Layups? I mean we all lived through D Fish...so who can be worse at finishing at the rim than that?

Heartbreaking story if you look into his background. Mas/Ireland spoke about it a little bit the day the Lakers signed him.

Came through some intense circumstances as a younster - He is a hard worker. Definitely provides some wing depth insurance but he seems redundant with KCP and Wes on the squad.

Is he still athletic? I remember he was really athletic coming out of college. He isn't old and hasn't had a major injury.

Yes still very athletic. He was completing alley oops from Harden last year. For a 6'3 guy he can get up.

I think he still has a fair amount of hops in him, definitely better than kcp and wes in that aspect

Yeah, I actually kind of like Lance but I would much rather just keep McKinnie for that emergency 3&D role then him without question.

Lakers need some shooting around AD-Bron and Drummond/Trez.

If our PG is Bron, target player to set up is AD, and our post threat is Drummond or Trez, we need at least 2 knockdown shooters around that trio at all times.

McLemore is 6'3, and if Bron plays point, could switch onto smaller guards that have to be chased around in the playoffs, sort of like KCP did.

3 point shooting combos around Drummond or Trez at 5, AD at 4, Bron at PG

Caruso/KCP
KCP/McLemore
McLemore/Caruso

Caruso is not a naturally great 3 point shooter, but for the season he is giving us 41.5%, KCP is giving us 40.3% and McLemore last year around Harden/Westbrook gave them 40% on 6 attempts a game.

This may be critical in the playoffs as while our shot creators and makers like Dennis and Kuzma are talented, they make 33% and 35% on three pointers. I am also hoping that McLemore will get back to that 40% range when he has the spacing and open looks he will get around AD/Bron.

It could be a nothing signing like Waiters, but it could also be a key one if we switch things up a bit in the playoffs and allow Bron to run PG full time like last year. Once teams have to deal with Trez/Andre + AD + Bron all game long, they will begin to zone or help. The guys we put around them need to be able to make their outside looks, and as well move off the ball.

Kuz & THT out tonight?

Ben will get plenty of playing time.

Game plan - if you're open, SHOOT!

GETTING MCLEMORE READY

Per Trudell

Vogel said they walked McLemore through the offense and defensive concepts today.

McLemore said he’s very happy and excited to be a Laker, to play alongside LeBron in particular, and that he’s eager to get going.

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1380186821234094081?s=21

Per McTen

Frank Vogel on Ben McLemore tonight vs. the Miami Heat: "If we have an opportunity to get him in there, we’ll get him in there. He will be available."

https://twitter.com/mcten/status/1380188971209162755?s=21

To paraphrase that song lyrics something in my heart tells me that some time is now LOL

He can’t be hesitant . He need to let it fly and take advantage of this opportunity. Play hard on defense and just SHOOT when he’s open.

Doesn't really matter but make 'em dance would be more fun chemistry-wise than McKinnie for sure and already knows how to play with LBJ...

McKinnie is going to get zero time in the playoffs (as he isn't even getting them now with LBJ out) whereas I could see Lance getting a few of the JR Smith minutes.

McLemore is 6'3

I have also seen this in other posts. From the NBA combine

6'3.5" without shoes
6'4.75" with shoes
6'7.75" wingspan
8'4.5" standing reach

His standing reach is the same as KCP's.

I have seen the Shannon Brown comparison.. I don’t see it.. Ben has more offensive talent, only thing Brown has over McLemore is athleticism.

Playoff Lance. I think he has better chance of performing when it matter but wonder why our FO is not keen on bringing him back. It’s not like McKinney nor McLemore will see a daylight when it counts. You know at least with Lance, he has the skill to get it going albeit all by himself.

Curious about lance too. How do players with no contract like him keep in basketball shape? Could be the reason why FO is hesitant on him

I saw some of his plays, he has a potential to be a good defender. Move his feet well, It's just a matter oh how commited he is on defending.

I love how he just fires like Keiff. No hesitation. I’d rather a couple misses than offensive hesitancy that leads to late shots or turnovers.

B-Mac got his feet wet as a Laker. Six points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and two rebounds in 17 minutes (-5).

After watching him play, you can tell he spent the last couple of years on the same team with James Harden...

I don’t think we have to worry about him being shy about shooting.

Heat are a tough team to have any rhythm with because they recover so well. But he is a chucker! A couple shots he attempted were ugly.

He is one of those Young or Smith type role players. We will love him when he plays 15 mins and goes 4-5. We will hate him on those nights the same shot selection goes 0-5.

Comparing him to KCP, Matthews or even Caruso is a disservice to those players. They contribute in ways that McClemore can’t. He is a end of the bench shooter. You just hope he has more “good” nights then “ bad”.
