Overdosed on something, apparently. I was into the west v. east thing and Kurupt had some beef with him, so I hated him.
Even so, I'll never forget how shook the MGM Grand arena was when Mike Tyson walked out to this song for his first fight after the Holyfield/ear suspension: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSeIRnrjUAw&t=39s

Oddly the first thing that came to mind when I read this thread was the movie "Never Die Alone." He's in a vegetative state with lung and brain failure. That sounds dire. He has a history of drug abuse. I hope he somehow makes a recovery.

I love DMX, he’s my favourite living rapper, grew up absolutely loving his music, still do.
Heartbreaking to see his struggles and his demons, where they’ve led him.

| I remember seeing DMX on the the Jet Li film Romeo Must Die, and checking out his stuff after that. I hope he pulls through. He’s an excellent rapper who has persona and charisma for days. |

Hopefully that includes a legacy for his 15 kids.
To have had that kind of talent and not be able to leave institutional wealth for one's family is a pity - and a sports/entertainment industry cliche. As a black man who is still on the grind every day for my family, I hope to be able to leave my loved ones more than just lessons and memories.
DMX had a hella hard life coming up, so this kind of ending was always a strong possibility. For those who are struggling with addiction or other demons, my prayers are with you even as I ask the Good Lord to let DMX rest in heaven.
