CONFIRMATION - MARC HAD COVID

Per Goon

Marc Gasol says "the infection didn't affect me much" in terms of getting back to the court tonight.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1375317314116087808?s=21

The full quote is funnier

Per McTen

Marc Gasol, deadpanning, after playing his first game back for the Lakers after being in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols for several weeks: “I’m still unathletic so the infection didn’t affect me much”

https://twitter.com/mcten/status/1375317620900077569?s=21

Per Goon

Marc Gasol confirms that he had COVID-19, and "it got me pretty good for 5-6 days."

Said he felt headaches, fever, difficulty breathing, and that he had trouble going up and down stairs.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1375317955437756428?s=21

Per Woike

Marc Gasol said that he had COVID-19. "it got me pretty good for five or six days. ...Couldn't move much." Said the worst symptoms were headaches, difficulty breathing.

MARC PLAY - MINUTES UNSPECIFIED

Per Trudell

Frank Vogel said Marc Gasol will indeed play on this B2B. He didn’t mention a specific minutes limit, but said that they need to “be responsible” with how much he plays.

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1375613016012550144?s=21

Per Faigen

Frank Vogel says there is no minutes restriction on Marc Gasol tonight beyond "be responsible."

"Responsible" is up from "15" last night.

DIDNT HE SAY THAT YESTERDAY? - VOGEL ON AD

I don’t know if this is a Buha repeating this or if Vogel really did just totally repeat himself but…

Per Buha

Frank Vogel, after @billoram asked him for an update on Anthony Davis, says Davis is “still a ways away” and there is no update on him.

https://twitter.com/jovanbuha/status/1375613556272504834?s=21

Oh I see...

Per Goon

Frank Vogel pushed back on the idea that Anthony Davis was scheduled for a reevaluation today, as the Lakers told the media two weeks ago. He says the reality is that Davis is evaluated “every day” and gets treatment from the staff.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1375613849735294979?s=21

Per Faigen

Frank Vogel says that Davis is evaluated every day, but that they don't have a firm date to offer one when he can return.

IFTOS - Sexton

Per Trudell

Cavs starting guard Collin Sexton is a true game-time decision. He missed last game (hamstring), but practiced yesterday and is currently doing his pregame warmup.

SO APPARENTLY AD *WAS* RE-EXAMINED

Or at least they are making a statement that he was. What’s REALLY going on with AD??? 🤨🧐🤔

Per McTen

The latest on what the Lakers are saying about AD: “Anthony Davis was re-examined by team medical staff earlier this evening. He continues to progress in his recovery and has been cleared to advance his on court work. Additional updates will be given when appropriate.”

AD IS DOING A BIT MORE BBALL WORK

Per Oram

Lakers said tonight Anthony Davis can progress to “increased volume and intensity in shooting, dribbling and position specific drills” in his rehab

MARC PROGRESS AND AVOIDING HURT EGOS

Per Ward

Frank Vogel on Marc Gasol's mins tonight: "Yeah. They raised it some. It's still not a hardline."

https://twitter.com/ryanwardla/status/1376329404457029632?s=21

Per Goon

Frank does acknowledge that he’s been having conversations with the players on the current roster, trying to “over communicate” what the team is doing and what their intentions are.

Communication is commonly mentioned by players and staff as one of Vogel’s strengths.

INJURIES IN THE LITERAL LAST MINUTE OF THE GAME- WES MATTHEWS

Per Woike

Wesley Matthews went down on the last play, grabbed at his lower leg. Teammates tried to help him off the court but he walked off on his own

https://twitter.com/danwoikesports/status/1376389517175705600?s=21

On the replay, it looked like he turned the ankle early while guarding Porter. He walks off slowly.

But the Lakers win.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1376389474523828225?s=21

People noted in the comments on both Tweets that it appears Wes stepped on the foot of one of the refs.

BUT APPARENTLY WES WILL BE OK

Per Goon

Frank Vogel said Wes Matthews was frustrated that he rolled his ankle on the last play of the game, but that he would be OK. Vogel thought he might have stepped on the official's foot.

AD2 IS RET TA GO

Per Goon

Frank Vogel says Andre Drummond will play starters minutes tonight. If he says he needs a break, the Lakers will give him one, but Vogel reiterates that Drummond is in good shape.

Per Buha

Andre Drummond is getting checked out by the Lakers' medical staff during the timeout.

AD2: ITS A TOENAIL NOT A BONE BRUISE, HES IN GOOD SPIRITS, RE EVALUATED TOMORROW

Per Goon

Andre Drummond said he hurt his toe in the first quarter when Brook Lopez stepped on his foot. Initially thought nothing of it, but when he finally took his shoe off, "my whole toenail was gone."

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1377486743994126344?s=21

Andre is laughing a lot for a dude missing a whole toenail. "I've lost a toenail before, but this one is very, very painful." He says he can't wear shoes -- he's wearing flipflops during his postgame presser.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1377487354223423488?s=21

Drummond's toe will be reevaluated tomorrow.

MARKIEFF HAS HAD THIS INJURY BEFORE

Per Goon

Markieff Morris has had a similar injury that Drummond suffered, and while he played in the next game after that, he said it bothered him for the next month-and-a-half.

https://twitter.com/kylegoon/status/1377488752973467658?s=21

Per Woike

Markieff Morris has broken a toenail before. Said he played the next game but "that (bleep) hurt for like a month and a half."

BUT IT SEEMS DRUMMOND WON’T BE OUT LONG

Per McTen (ESPN article w/Woj at link)

New story w/ @wojespn: There's optimism within the Lakers organization that Andre Drummond's big toe injury won't keep him out more than a game or two as the defending champs enter a crucial stretch, already missing LeBron and AD

IN OTHER NEWS- WES MATTHEWS

Per Goon

Lakers say that Andre Drummond did not travel to Sacramento and is officially out.

Wesley Matthews is also questionable for tomorrow's game against the Kings after the play when Giannis hit him on the neck (which the Lakers challenged).
