He should step aside regardless. As I said earlier, if the Dems want to retain any high road, they need to do better than the GOP in how they handle controversy, even on the individual level. If Al Franken can do it in his case, Cuomo sure as hell should here.

Agreed. I was just wondering how long the Dems have to put someone up against him if he doesn’t.

Yeah, when you look at the numbers of Trump supporters, it’s a big mistake to assume they are all rubes. Those people who stormed the Capitol had a lot of educated professionals among them. If prior to Trump you knew a professional or business owner who was either religious or fiscally conservative, a solid Republican, the chances are very very high that person is a Trump supporter.

Here's a big revelation from Walker: He says that DC Guard requested resources to prepare for 1/6 on Jan. 1, which was denied and he says that denial was unusual, especially considering Guard got *immediate approval* for requests during BLM protests in DC over the summer.

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) asks Walker if it was "unusual" for Walker to get such a delayed approval for request to mobilize guardsman, he says it was absolutely unusual, considering they got immediate approval to mobilize Guard for BLM protests over the summer.

At least this time we won't have a president cheering them, blocking police and national guard back-up, and tweeting out lies and propaganda.

No, just half the House and Senate and a bunch of governors.

The GOP has to create a lie in order to con/convince their (racist) voters to help the GOP wrest power from the other side: the side that believes in liberty & justice for all Americans.

Cuomo did a press conference where he did that thing where you apologize if the other person was offended by your perfectly normal behavior that the other person totally misinterpreted. But he's really pro-woman! And he never did anything inappropriate! But he's also very sorry!

Sorry he got caught.

And he's not resigning.

And just to show that people on the left are not immune from conspiracy thinking -- many on liberal twitter think this Cuomo thing is a GOP operation to help elect/install a Republican governor in NY so he/she can then pardon Trump for any subsequent NY prosecutions/convictions.

The next time won't go so well.

And will also likely be bloodier unless it's just a few wankers with signs and no one really shows up to the party.

GOP idea of bipartisanship:

Quote:
Manu Raju @mkraju

Republicans are telling me they plan to force Senate clerks to read the full $1.9 trillion relief bill aloud. Typically that process is dispensed with, but any single member can object and force a full reading of the bill.

That alone could take 10 hours — even before votes begin

But our side is afraid of changing the filibuster to pass voting rights because Senate procedures are sacred and we want to preserve bipartisanship.

We're in a gun fight for the future of our country's citizens. And Manchin and Sinema are demanding we fight bullets with water pistols.

I think what ticks me off the most about this is that 2 Senators are dragging down the whole Dem party and proving the left wing idiots like Krystal Ball partially right.

Now that the GOP does not control the Senate, it has to resort to petty tactics to gum-up-the-works. The GOP will not, easily, allow the Demz to fix and help the country, as it would show how truly incompetent the GOP was when it controlled all three branches of government and only helped the Stock Market and the rich.

Throw in Trump's mishandling of the Covid Pandemic, and it's amazing he still got so many racist idiots to vote for him.

To be fair, it’s not our side, it is 2 fairly conservative democratic senators. If we had 52 Dems this wouldn’t be an issue.

They aren’t proving her right any more than she proves right wing whackos right. The democratic tent is big. It gets troublesome at its margins.

You're 100% correct. But I think that nuance will be lost on some potential voters in future elections. Some cynics would say if we had 52 Dems, 1 more fairly conservative Democrat Senator would pop out of the weeds somewhere and hold things up too for the sake of vanity and power.

Dems are their own worst enemy. They are positioned to get most of what they want to be pushed through. Self interests are holding bills hostage. Repukelicans will stick together even when they don't like what's being perposed.

It's easy when you are Senator (getting 6 year terms getting paid $175 K a year) to be detached from the reality of the situation for most Americans.

Democratic Senate Campaign Committee can't even threaten the purse strings on Manchin and Sinema re-election campaigns if they don't play ball. Since they aren't up for re-election till 2024. And in the case of Sinema, helping her get turnout is tied to our Presidential candidate winning there.
