What a great question, Jennifer Connelly on the pony machine or Demi Moore on the clay making, 80s top hotness

Check out About Last Night (1986) and just fast forward to the good parts.

Haha. OK. You unfortunately got this info to me way past my prime when I'm just beginning to feel arthritis. Least I can watch it now w/o NEEDING to FF thru it.

Hrm. Lowe and Demi. I just checked it on wiki and it appears to be St. Elmo's Pt 2. On second thot, I will FF.

Lowe is a block of wood who makes Demi Moore look like Meryl Streep by proxy. It's supposedly based on a David Mamet play, but the screenplay has no Mamet!

If you FF, the good bits start showing up with increasing frequency about a third of the way in, FYI.

Minari is a beautiful film. It is singularly specific yet universal in its insights into the human condition.

When the unfunny Belushi brother is the best male actor in the film, you know there’s a problem.

Coach Lowe lost a game w/ young Jordan and Magic on his team. That pretty face has served him well.

** 88 Midsummer Night's Magic. The Opposing Coach Hall IS in the HOF, however.

I liked Aykroyd better in Neighbors.

j/k, John. RIP. In John's defense, he hated the direction of the movie.

We need to have a serious talk about Bruce Willis.

He keeps attaching his name to absolute dog (bleep) movies where it looks like he shows up for filming for a day or 2 and he gets his check. He has the hardest working body double in the business.
This guy is doing straight to DVD-level , horrible, horrible, horrible stuff.
Cosmic Sin, Breach, Hard Kill. If I ever have kids, I'm going to punish them by making them watch those movies.

I've lost some/alot of respect for his acting career. I'm now avoiding his stuff like the plague.

Saw Netflix's "I Care A Lot" last night. It's a dark comedy about a court appointed guardian and how she exploits elderly people. There are a couple twists make it really entertaining. I recommend it.

He apparently got written out of Expendables 3 because he wanted a million a day for four days of work and they only offered 750k. He’s just taking that Eastern European money now for whatever they want to shoot. It’s like homeless level Nic Cage.

Saw Mank (2020) w/ Gary Oldman on Netflix. Not as brutal as I expected, but definitely a movie that you need two watch 2-3x to get all the characters and jokes down. That's a movie for "in the biz" types and movie buffs who know about Citizen Kane and WR Hearst. Looks like a 30s/40s movie, however, even down to a comp filter that added era-correct probs to the film like bubble spots here and there, and lower and higher color values in spots even tho it's B/W. Looks like aged film instead of a pristine 2020 period piece in B/W about the 40s w/ zero character to the filmstock. All the props are right.

Watched I Care a Lot and I can’t remember being so disgusted while watching a movie. Sadly the main character’s lack of morals in pursuit of the almighty dollar is representative of so many Wall Street types. While I wouldn’t do a 1:1 comparison with Parasite there are some similarities in themes— the difference being the cultures each movie exist in (s Korean vs American). I definitely recommend this and will be rewatching Parasite now

Rewatched Frears' The Hit. Must watch for fans of gangster/crime films. So, so good. Oozes cool. Character driven. Takes its time, but well worth it. Tense. Cerebral. An excellent performance from John Hurt and an early introduction to Tim Roth.

Great soundtrack, too, with pieces done by Clapton/Waters.

Damn. A big blind spot for me. Did you stream it or do you own the disc?

Streamed it via Criterion Channel. Still on there - just checked. I think you'll love it!

Question to the crowd - is Smooth Talk any good? I love Laura Dern and Treat Williams

Haven't seen it yet, but the film nerds online seem to think it's aces. It'll probably pop up on the Channel in a few months.

FYI: Criterion has discontinued 6 Paramount titles effective today and the stock floating around Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. is getting hoovered up.

Harold & Maude
Days of Heaven
Nashville
La Dolce Vita*
Don't Look Now
Rosemary's Baby

I had three titles already and tracked down H&M on the B&N website just now. Rosemary's Baby seems to be sold out everywhere.

* LDV will still be included in the Fellini boxed set but no longer as a standalone title.

Really excited to check out The Color of Money. A friend told me about it, never heard of the movie before that. But I have a feeling I'll like it.

Watched Coming 2 America last night. It's a good movie. Didn't quite live up to the hype. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 7. Hard to believe Coming To America debuted in 1988, 33 years ago.

I was immediately disappointed when I saw it was rated PG-13.

I’ll check it out eventually though.

Coming to America 2... this is a good FAMILY movie, nothing serious, silliness here and there, feel good ending... I like it! Two thumbs up! (just don't expect the original level of comedy)

Legit. Two very, very different movies, though, even if you take Newman as auteur for granted.

Too late. Watched The Color of Money. And it changed my perspective on things. Faaaar beyond pool hustling and competition.

It's a beautiful film.

If you want another fun pool hustling movie I’d check out Pool hall Junkies. It’s just a fun pool hustle movie that features both Christopher Walker AND Chazz Palminteri.

Love me some Christopher Walken, I'll check it out. I'll watch anything he is in.

Edit: Couldn't finish Poolhall Junkies. The actor who is the main character bugged me too much. It's a shame, pretty much if anybody else played that character I probably would've enjoyed it.

If you like animations you may like Raya and The Last Dragon. Like all animations it's predictable. It has a message, trust.
