One of Country Music's most important instruments--the banjo--is evidence of the great reach Africa has on so many parts of American life.

Nevertheless, I don't listen to Country Music: never really cared for it.

Homophobia and racism were great contributors to the demise of Disco on Top 40 Radio.

Although I don't like country. I'm fine with the folk genre. Stuff like this:

Other music created and popularized in the South I can at least appreciate. Like jazz and it's offshoots (blues, swing, bop, fusion, etc).

It's just that country twang. It's needles on a chalkboard. I'd rather listen to dated music I have little respect for like Ska.

Is it controversial to say that El Caminos are and always were ugly? A car front w/ a truck ass? I'm just asking because now they're all old enough to be considered "classics" and there are Chevy people who think they're just great.

If this were a song by Donny and Marie, it would go, "I'm a little bit foooolk-eeeee, I'm a little bit jazz and it's offshoooots..."

Well, given that you're the guy who challenged older people to acknowledge that there is better music from post 2000 than the previous century, I feel it is fair to point out that you may want to acknowledge some country music from artists who weren't from the last millennium.

I'm not a fan of country music at all. But as a fan of music I can attest that artists like Sturgill Simpson and Chris Stapleton write and perform great music.

So the answer is a f'en NO! Thx. I'm glad I'm not alone on this consensus.

You're missing some bangers. Townes alone is worth it:

I love that movie and that man's music - made during the height of disco, no less.

This whole album is fire, but Steve Earle was really spitting truth here:

I'll second that, but with more exceptions

John Denver
Willie Nelson
Hank Williams Sr.
Leann Rimes' debut album
This terrible, cornball redneck song by Ashton Shepherd that I heard on Howard Stern and really like

John Denver often gets overlooked.

I'd also add Waylon Jennings and Leon Russell in there.

There comes a time in no one’s life where one asks oneself, “is it possible to get a pickup truck that’s more like an open air station wagon, but only seats two and bottoms out if you load the back with two bags of dog food?”

El Camino = The Way or The Path

If you drive an El Camino, get used to being stranded on the side of el camino on which you were traveling.

I thought about Russell, but he is so much more than country...too much more.

Every one state "solution" proposal I read seems to be a blueprint to the eventual eradication of Jewish power in the Middle East and I wish more leftist scholars would at least be honest and embrace it.

I don't even know where to start reading when it comes to objective Israel/Palestine analysis. Feel like most people who cover it are doing so because they have an interest in one country/religion/culture or the other and by default are biased.

I've heard people compare the relations between those 2 countries to rival gangs causing violence. They've been killing each other for a very long time and the bad blood is so severe there is no hope for a solution that works. But at least with gang violence you could decriminalize drugs and sex work and take away alot of the $ and thus incentive for fighting. I don't even know what the equivalent of that is for Israel and Palestine.

I make fun of that term, "Latinx": I pronounce it as Lah-teenks. I only say that to my brother and sister, though.

If/when somebody asks me: What are you? I just say: "Mexican"...been doing that since I was about 10 years old.

I don't need the PC police to tell me how to best label my ethnicity. When I fill out govt. forms, I indicate my race/ethnicity as "other."

Born in Mexico, raised in the US...naturalized US citizen in 2000.

Name a song between 1950-2000. And I'll give you a better song that came out after that.

People who claimed music peaked before 2000 either (a) haven't been exposed to quality new music or (b) are old fogies who don't know better.

What is one of the y2k+ songs you would choose as your champion to vanquish all 20th century music?

I wish the folks who control Dr. Seuss' estate would let go of their copyright on the racist books and let them enter the public domain if they no longer want to publish them.
