We could still be in on a possible trade for Arenado. We're probably in on Hendriks and Brad Hand. I could see us in on Suarez, Gray, and/or Castillo from the Reds. _________________ THE JOB IS FINISHED! |

Jorge Castillo of the LA Times reports that our interest in Hendriks has "dissipated" due to the fact that he can likely get a 4-year contract, but that we have "significant interest" in free agent reliever Kirby Yates. _________________ THE JOB IS FINISHED! |

Wow, Tommy barely lasted long enough to see us finally win another title. Same with Sandra Scully.
Fate, destiny, coincidence? |

Tommy literally said he couldn't leave this world without seeing another Dodger championship. He got to see that. As frail as he was in recent years, I'm sure it's not a coincidence that he passed shortly after seeing his beloved Dodgers reach the pinnacle again. _________________ THE JOB IS FINISHED! |

Quote: | Padres, Fernando Tatis, Jr. Discussing Massive $320M Extension
As has been expected for quite some time, the San Diego Padres and Fernando Tatis, Jr. are discussing a massive contract extension for the shortstop.
Talks are reportedly in the advanced stages on an 11-year, $320 million deal for Tatis.
Tatis, 22, wouldn't be eligible for free agency until after the 2024 season.

Hands down my favorite Tommy rant. Love how cool and calm he begins and just builds and builds.
Also love the disdain in his voice when he says 'Bevaaawkwa!'
RIP Tommy.
He lived a full life and glad he finally got to see the Dodgers win. |

Whenever I think of Lasorda, I can't help but remember Godfather II.
Lasorda used to pitch in Cuba during the offseason. He was out partying with some ballplayers in the wee hours on New Years, 1959 when looked up and saw three planes. He said aloud something like, "Who in the hell is flying at 3:30 AM?" The answer was President Batista, who was fleeing from the victorious forces of Fidel Castro. |

Quote: | Free-agent closer Liam Hendriks and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a multiyear deal, pending a physical, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
The deal is for three years and includes an option for a fourth and guarantees Hendriks $54 million, sources said.
Hendriks, 31, will make $39 million in the first three years, and the buyout and fourth-year option salary both are $15 million, sources said. If the White Sox decline the option, they will be able to pay the buyout over the course of multiple years.

Pretty much 4 years $54M

Those players were:
1) Francisco Lindor,
2) Fernando Tatis Jr,
3) Trevor Story,
4) Tim Anderson,
5) Corey Seager

Can’t believe Seager finished behind Story and Anderson |

I mean, if he hits like he did last year, of course!
Baez just signed with the Astros for 2 years. Get the bag, I guess. _________________ THE JOB IS FINISHED! |

Good for Baez that he got paid. Sucks that it has to be the Astros but hey, gotta do what you gotta do. We definitely got all of his best years for cheap. It feels like he’s on the decline now that he’s hit free agency. Sucks for him.
Quote: | Reliever Pedro Baez’s two-year deal with the Houston Astros includes an option, sources tell ESPN. The deal has a number of escalators and a buyout and is expected to fall in the $12-14 million guaranteed range. First with the agreement: @JorgeCastillo.

You can’t expect an outsider to rate Seager so high when people in this very forum were down on him for years up until this year. |

Max Muncy remembers Tommy:
Quote: | maxmuncy
He once told me I was no good at hitting curveballs. I told him if he was pitching I would be great at hitting curveballs. His response “do you know who the **** you’re talking to, I’d kick your ass back to rookie ball” 😂😂 I will greatly miss our conversations before the game. I’m happy that we could finally bring you one last championship! RIP Tommy you will be missed

Max Muncy on JT

If they could somehow land Ozuna on a one year deal it’d be good. They could use him mainly as DH this season, still re sign JT and use him at 3rd then move JT to the DH after a year if he can’t play 3rd anymore _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers.

He's gonna get the bag this season. He's probably waiting on clarification about the universal DH, like Nelson Cruz is. Those guys would like to have all teams potentially in their market instead of just the AL for Cruz and, in the case of Ozuna, NL teams knowing they'd have to put him in the outfield as a below-average defender there.
If JT can get a better deal elsewhere and departs, and if LeMahieu still ends up out of our price range (which I expect), perhaps Ozuna could be a legit consideration for us. We are clearly prioritizing a right-handed bat. _________________ THE JOB IS FINISHED! |
