The book (by Philip Roth) is good. Will try to watch the series. |

I know the series is fiction but embedded is a reality that gives it believability. Decisions have to be made that could cause one's hair to turn gray. Donald Trump is definitely not qualified to occupy the Oval Office.
It's on Netflix. I'm assuming many have a Smart TV. Netflix comes with them. Anybody watching? |

Didn't know it was based on a book. That makes sense. It has the pacing of a book. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Designated Survivor has so many authentic WH setting, Oval Office, Press conference room, etc. If you haven't watched the series I strongly recommend you do. You may find yourself as I find myself, HOOKED!! _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I’ve never had higher expectations for the ending of a show. And Esmail stuck the landing.
Best show of the decade. |
I finally got around to finishing this show, and I gotta say, I don't get why people liked this so much.
I had watched seasons 1-3 a while back and felt that the show got worse over time so I wasn't in a rush to finish s4. I was also just going through the motions watching s2-3 because the s1 finale was so disappointing to me.
I don't mind homages, but there was just too much blatant ripping off of David Fincher and Fight Club for this to be enjoyable for me.
I'm not even great at noticing homages in film and TV usually, but this was so egregious that even a fool like me could see them. Obviously the s1 finale was a complete ripoff of Fight Club, but Sam Esmail also used some of the same shots (the group staring out of the skyscraper window in the s4 finale, tracking Elliot's movements through multiple security monitors at Cyprus Bank). They even heavily featured a cover of The Pixies "Where is My Mind?" during an earlier episode. I'm sure there's more I'm either forgetting or just didn't notice.
Side note: Esmail's wife is actress Emmy Rossum, who is also a pop singer. I remember hearing some snippets from her album a while back, and her music is a complete ripoff of Imogen Heap. Basically they are the most unoriginal artist couple ever.
Also none of the characters in Mr. Robot are likable. I particularly hated Tyrell and Darlene. Also Fernando Vera was such a cartoonishly bad villain. Elliot was just meh (all stoic detachment, rage, or sadness) and obviously we learned why in the finale, but that doesn't make for a good protagonist if we never actually meet him. And characters would often drift into long soliloquys that were so bad.
This show was nauseating.
And oh man, I just remembered that one episode (s2?) that was supposed to be like Full House or some family sitcom complete with a laugh track. WTF? Horrible. |

I watched the first 20 minutes of La casa de papel (Money Heist) dubbed in English with English subs. Took me quite a bit to figure out what was wrong. Of course watched the rest in the original with ENG subs, even though that is a bit harder (at least for me) because I had two foreign languages to listen/read/translate simultaneously. |

Finished all 30 episodes of Designated Survivor today. (Netflix) I really enjoyed the series. I wish they had renewed it. It was a great series. I read they were having contract problems. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Saw meets Maze Runner meets Escape Room meets Hunger Games meets Matrix.
I would give it a 8.5/10... it probably would've been closer to 9.5 or 10/10 if...
**SPOILER**
Quote: | It was 3 episodes longer. I really enjoyed the Maze Runner/Escape Room part of the show, especially because the puzzles were done so cleverly, genius, but then episode 7 happens where it was trying to wrap everything up so fast.
I would also like to see an American translation. These Japanese shows have this annoying thing for me when they milk the drama. It's like a death scene where the person has some final words before passing, but with Japanese shows they're like 10 mins long (exaggeration). They also have this wierd Matrix action scenes that just looks corny for a show like this, and the inevitable hey let's put a karate scene here because it's stereotypically Asian, like it didn't need that.
