After an inexplicable non-overturn of what clearly should have been a Pascal fumble, the Colts were given new life, but could not take advantage. The Bills prevail.
That call was egregious, Pascal clearly fumbled. Rivers was done last season, his shoulder is trash at this point. While some of those drops were on his receivers, Rivers was launching wobbly passes on a line due to him compensating for a trashed shoulder. Time to hang it up.
Speaking of bad calls, Wolford gave himself up. That should have been a personal foul.
If the Colts have timeouts left, they probably get into FG position at the end. They couldn't work the middle late. Also, consider the following. The Colts had 3rd and 5 with 1:59 left. Seven yards later, there was 1 minute left. It took them 59 seconds to gain 7 yards, which is just inexplicably bad clock management. This sequence included huddling up after gaining a first down. Then after the awful non-reversal ruling when the Pascal play went to replay, there were 28 seconds left. The play to Pittman was a terrible play because it was only going to be a 2-yard gain at best, and because he had to struggle just to try to make it to the sideline, he fumbled and that kept the clock running. It was just horrific game management by Indy all game long. I didn't necessarily hate going for 2 when it was 24-16 because it was from the 1, but why are you going out of shotgun with Rivers and then running Taylor? In order for the defense to not completely key in on the running back there, there has to be the threat that the QB might keep it himself on the RPO. Obviously, there's no chance that the statue of Rivers is going to keep it. So just line up under center if you're going to run, or get Brissett in to keep the defense honest. They consistently used Brissett at the goal line in the latter part of the season, so I have no idea why they went away from that other than one snap today.
And yes, that was clearly a personal foul on Adams. This is the second year in a row that the Seahawks were allowed to injure the opposing starting QB during the wild card round.
Reich has done a great job in Indianapolis, but he made some major game decision blunders today.
I like being aggressive, but within reason. Going for it on 4th down from the 4 yard line at the end of the half was a bad decision and going for 2 when you could have just kicked the extra point to be down 7 was even worse.
Indy actually dominated large portions of the game (surprisingly) but Reich was overreacting to his perceived thoughts about the dangers of the Buffalo offense.
Good job by Buffalo grinding it out but they will need to be a lot better in their next game if they want to advance. And yes, I am already 0-1 in my picks vs the spread! _________________ Love, Laker Lanny
Alex Smith is inactive for the WFT. This will be a low scoring game, the Bucs will take them with a low-risk game plan.
I disagree, I think Arians/Brady will be hyper aggressive in the passing game.
I would be surprised if this is a close game, but of course the NFL is amazingly unpredictable which is a huge strength of the league compared to other sports. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

The WFT is rather so-so on run defense, I expect time consuming possessions on Tampa Bay with a mix of short to intermediate passes to keep WFT honest.
Typical score against Tampa Bay: Give up a big chunk play, coupled with rather poor pass defense. For the life of me, I don't know why the Bucs sat on their hands with a couple of presumably cheap CBs on the market, and only one safety taken during the draft. Failure of imagination.
I still expect Tampa Bay to win, but as I said... low scoring game, TB prone to giving up chunk plays, poor pass coverage. They still should win tonight, but they'll lose badly to New Orleans next week.

Heck of an effort by Heinecke. He earned himself some money with that start tonight. Some team will sign him for a few million to be their backup.
Tampa pretty much felt in control, but left the door open for the WFT. Still, a solid-enough win. It likely sets up a divisional clash with the Saints next week for them, assuming the Saints don't blow a home game against a decimated Bears team that has already ruled out Roquan Smith and Darnell Mooney.
Brady looked good tonight, also. His arm is not an issue at all. Still has that great pocket awareness, and that pass to Evans on their final drive was an absolute thing of beauty.

It's hard to beat the same team 3 times in one season! That's the hope for Tampa Bay fans. Maybe Brees looks every bit of his age. It's not impossible.

Shades of Hitchhiker's Guide, TB needs improbability drive to win.
TB loses at the line (both), the NO pass rush overwhelms the TB offensive line. It'll be even worse if the RG (Cappa, who isn't much to begin with) is replace by that awful practice squad G. The NO offensive line does a great job at neutralizing the TB pass rush. What's funny is the lack of adjustments by TB from game to game, let alone in game. That makes life easy for Sean Payton and his staff.
