I knew what that was before clicking on the link.
Clicking on it confirmed what I thought.

I don't remember those Stewart or Rundgren songs at all. Everything else, yes, but those two might've been minor hits. Then again, I'm not a Todd Rundgren fan. Rod Stewart was such a big star that I remember songs like Young Turks, Hot Legs, Stay With Me, Tonight's The Night, Passion, Some Guys Have All The Luck (monsta radio play mid decade), Maggie Mae, You Wear It Well, and of course Do Ya Think I'm Sexy. And Forever Young, which I heard the other day on 93.1. Like Bad N Ruin from Faces, too. Sopranos song.
This's is seizure inducing. Director: We need more movement!

I don't remember the Rundgren song either (same reason), but that Rod song I remember because even in the context of the time it stood out as a totally cheesy pop garbage. |
True. We Don't Talk Anymore by Cliff Richard was 70s holdover muzak, to boot. The name doesn't really evoke a strong memory of the song until you hear it again and you've realized you've heard it many times on elevators and in department stores. Without saying, MTV heads were major morons and bigoted for not putting black acts on until Thriller forced their hats. It was a case of them stumbling into a huge success, but Mark Goodman makes no bones that the heads were fools, but back in the day, he had to defend it to save his job. He had an interview with David Bowie where Bowie asked him why not and he rolled his eyes at Goodman's reply.
MTV also banned songs out of silliness. Van Halen's vid for Pretty Woman was the first to go. If you see it, yeah...maybe not kosher for the kids at home. Then they did She Bop by Lauper because it was about female masturbation, God forbid. Continued into the 90s with the edits in something like Closer by NIN, which was a beautiful video even with the edits for some reason. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

Thank you NPZ, that Fast Times clip summed up those test and quiz days much better than I had remembered. |

Was that a skate park or a roller rink? |
Indoor roller rink, with music and food inside, kind of like how a bowling alley often has food just off from where the lanes are. _________________ THE JOB IS FINISHED! |

Aaah, there was one we used to go to in West Covina. It may have been a Skateway. _________________ KOBE |

My mom just showed me this: used to belong to one of my dad's suits.

I used to see this store's TV commercials in the 1980's, when I was a kid. _________________ Lakers & Dodgers |
