Biden needs to point out in the debates that the fake news is that Donald is a billionaire and a successful businessman.

Trump calls NYT report on tax avoidance ‘totally fake news’

“It’s fake news,” Trump told reporters at a news conference in the White House briefing room. “It’s totally fake news. Made up. Fake.”

Query; How liable are the people who prepared Trumps returns if they prove to be fake?

The irony is strong in these folks. He got tackled to the ground and cuffed but at least he wasn't killed. Maybe have a chat with Daniel Prude's family.

I think everyone here is aware that I am quite vocal about my condemnation of law enforcement and their use of force in these types of situations.

Sure, there may be some hypocrisy Takala's part, but I'd be pissed off by that footage if it were a black person, even if that person was unharmed and simply arrested. It would be unnecessary to take someone down like without giving him a real chance to comply. That doesn't change just because the person is a white Republican Trumpster. Again, I'm not denying or dismissing the hypocrisy of the Right, but if we are going to call out the Right on their hypocrisy (and obviously we should), we need to be consistent ourselves. That wasn't cool no matter who was handled that way.

That would certainly get under Trump's skin. And the more he can appropriately do that and tweak Trump's fragile ego and temper, the better for Biden

That's not to say that Biden shouldn't focus on policy, but keeping Trump on his heels by exploiting that personality is going to be helpful.

What caught my attention, no one put a knee on him anywhere. Not his back, neck or arms. No knees.

Oh I completely agree, no one should be treated this way, especially someone distraught who is threatening suicide, it was just the hypocrisy of the Tweet.

The cops said he sounded drunk and smelled of alcohol, bruises on his wife that she said came from him, 10 guns found in the house later. This could have been a disaster if the cops had handled it like they handle many such cases.

One article said that when he wouldn't come out of the house, they brought in a member of the police force that Parscale considered a friend to talk to him and that is when the other cops tackled him, without giving him a chance to respond to their shout that he get on the ground. Typical over-use of force. I'm just glad Parscale did not shoot himself, his wife or at the police and he is getting help it sounds like.

Probably not. But I bet dollars to donuts the media is on to something else by the end of the week.

Normally, I'd think you are right. This, however, might be a little different. It will take a different type of reporter than the usual beat reporters and press pool to cover this story. This is a follow the dollar story now. If there's enough info put out by the Times, other reporters from other outlets might jump on little bits of financial info and spin off their own stories. It feels like a bit of an octopus that could have a lot of angles to it.

Certainly there are other stories...SCOTUS, polls, whatever the next tweet is...but this one will open up to different set of reporters. Just need to see if there's enough there to chase. This has Pulitzer potential and may keep a bunch of the right people on top of it.

The reporters will need the cooperation of a disgruntled current or former employee. That might be tough given Trump's vindictive use of lawyers to file civil suits. That might explain the lack of leaks from The Trump Organization. The lack of leaks from the banking community is probably attributable to secretive overseas lenders.

I never bought into the story line that Trump was laundering money for the Russians, but I will bet that his golf course acquisition financing probably comes from loans from Russian-controlled banks. Those institutions are an extension of Putin; they are the ones that do money laundering and financing of the weapons black market in the Middle East.

I think anyone with a brain cell realizes that Trump's main income is television and branding. I'll bet anything the Trump badly overpaid for his golf properties (like the Taj, Trump Shuttle and everything else he's ruined) and that most of the revenue goes straight to interest expense. In fact, I wonder if he's in default to those mysterious banks as the pandemic has undoubtedly crushed the golf course cash flows.

Trump casinos were fined for laundering money back in the day -- and it was obviously for the mob although that wasn't part of the slap on the wrist fine. He has experience laundering money though his businesses. I don't know how you prove he tried it again with other businesses but I'd put the odds of him having repeated an illegal but lucrative line of revenue at 100%.

fake news about Donald's wealth ? Do the unemployed coal miners really care if he's not really a billionaire or a successful businessman ? Heck, they probably relate more to him knowing that's he's broke.

people who voted for Trump already knew he's corrupt. Do you really think pointing to his background makes a difference. The reason Trump won is that his supporters were just looking to show the middle finger to the establishment.

Biden needs to talk about issues that matter to the people and not sit back and turn this into a Trump referendum. This election should not be close

Given Biden’s roots in Pennsylvania I’m confident he’ll win. They truly do love him out there.

Hillary warned us about every single thing Trump has done. She told voters in 2016 who he was, what he would do and why he would be so dangerous. And she was right about every single thing. She was the the candidate who had been inside multiple administrations and realized how dangerous he would be. She said to his face on the debate stage that the reason he wouldn't release his taxes is because they would show he hadn't paid any and that he wasn't as rich as he pretended to be, and that he was a security risk because we didn't know who he owed money to. She said it 4 years ago on live TV. And here we are.

I have some thoughts on the often accurate mantra "everyone will forget today's scandal a week from now."

Trump the person and Trump the candidate lives his life in chaos. Every day is a new scandal -- precisely because he is a lifelong criminal and liar who commits new crimes and lies daily. So many, that it is impossible to keep up.

This worked for Trump during the 2016 election because no one single event got continual focus in the press -- unlike the email "story" on Clinton's side.

But we live in a different country than we did four years ago. While it is sadly true that each "scandal" recedes to the back of our collective memories as the new scandal breaks out, it is also true that there is now a cumulative effect of all the scandals. They keep piling on top of one another and although it's hard to remember each one, most of us feel the collective weight of his non-stop lies and willful incompetence bearing down on us. People are worn out and tired of having to live this way, waiting for one more atrocity, one more scandal, more unneeded deaths, more uncertainty regarding their health and finances.

And I think the cumulative effect of all these scandals is reflected in these polls that have had Biden ahead by 7-10% for TWO SOLID YEARS. Trump has never lead Biden in the national polls. NEVER.

I'm not saying the election is a slam dunk, obviously.

But when the next scandal comes, instead of immediately thinking "it won't matter" "his supporters don't care" "the media will be on to the next story in a few days" -- maybe the reaction should be, "that's one more black check on Trump's side that he can't make up in this last few weeks."

Yes, he will still try to steal the election. But we are not powerless sheep. The majority of this country sees him for who he is. Any new scandals should makes us even more determined to get rid of this vile putrid person once and for all.

Trump has the power of his lies, manipulation, evil enablers, white-male-straight-christian persuasion, and his dumb-a$$/racist/hick base.

Hopefully, all that won't be enough to get him another term.

Great post. I do think Biden is a stronger candidate than Hillary was in 2016 (even though I think Hillary would've made for a better President). Not a knock on Biden, just saying she was extremely qualified, experienced, and prepared.

I just keep coming back to the USPS. It reeks of foul play. And when it comes to taking away the true power of the people (the ability to have your vote counted). That is justified worry in my book. Not worry enough for people not to vote of course. That's self defeating and idiotic.
But worry like, I'm keeping an eye on it and am expecting foul play. And would encourage swing state voters to use at least a drop box. Better yet, show up, risk your health and vote. It's not fair or smart to do health wise, but Democrat votes in swing states are soooo important to our country's future.
If the USPS was the USPS of just 2 years ago. I'd say Biden is the overwhelming favorite.

It's going to come down to how effective the breakwater Trump and the SCOTUS are going to build is in blocking its flow.

Meanwhile people like Ryan Lizza and Nate Cohn are on Twitter posting stuff about how well Trump did in the 2016 debates, that he’s a better debater than we remember, and that people are underestimating him going into the debate. Did these dudes watch the same debates from 2016? Hillary wiped the floor with him. The only “strength” he had in 2016 is that he had absolutely no record to defend and could just say whatever the hell he wanted and score points. Now he’s got four years of his record and chaos to defend, his (bleep) rings even more hollow.

I thought Trump looked great during the debates. The way he hulked over Hillary, I thought he was going to smash her, or grab her by the privates. Yessiree, that's what I call Presidential; an unhinged, inarticulate bully who is dumber and less-cultured than critters swimming in my outhouse pit.
