LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played Black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown before finding fame as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel cinematic universe, died Friday of cancer, his representative said. He was 43.
Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Associated Press.
Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago, his family said in a statement.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

I thought he was a lot younger. Regardless, really tragic someone whose future seemed so bright to be taken so early.
I'd heard the rumors about how thin he looked but I just figured he was losing all that weight for a movie role.
What a coincidence he passed away on the same day MLB is honoring Jackie Robinson. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

What a stunning and tragic loss. He will be remembered for a long time, because his work was that good. I think he might win a posthumous Oscar for Da 5 Bloods. Of course, he brought such presence and grace to Black Panther, which will be his most famous role. And he brought the gravitas to important historical figures like Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get On Up, and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall.
He was an enormous talent, and he will be missed, that's for sure.

Wow, RIP
Very talented man. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman
The true power of @ChadwickBoseman was bigger than anything we saw on screen. From the Black Panther to Jackie Robinson, he inspired generations and showed them they can be anything they want — even super heroes. Jill and I are praying for his loved ones at this difficult time.
