Yeah, but this is such a different environment, I wouldn't focus too much on the past as a prediction of the future. From everything I've read, the players union has been more receptive to cap smoothing in informal talks they've had with owners. We'll see.

That Beal trade might be coming with Lonzo, Holiday + picks involved.

Between Nets and Pels most likely.

We'd structure the team better and not have Rondo?

I'm guessing the players are going to make this their primary solution, asking the owners to basically front the money to keep the cap high and offering to pay it back over time. I just don't expect the owners to go for it, at least not as the only or even primary strategy.

A blended strategy would be to increase the escrow and do some of this reverse smoothing (inflating the cap). That allows the existing structures to function (Free Agency, Salary Cap, Luxury Tax, Trade Rules) while spreading the pain across all players (instead of just free agents) and letting the Owners leverage their access to capital to keep the system liquid. Me thinks the owners are going to want some other concessions to agree to this approach though.

Last I saw, Lonzo looked like a guy that comes off the bench...Shame,
he has a talent but does not look engaged; too many distractions? maybe.

I think they'll work out a deal like that. They'll probably increase the escrow amount significantly. But I don't expect them to let the cap drop to $60 million or something.

But who knows -- maybe Ingram wouldn't have blossomed as a third banana here the way he did for the Pelicans as the #1 guy.

Ingram would still be better than Danny Green at $15m. Prove me wrong Danny.

Life's too short to worry about what might have been. You waste it looking over the fence and wondering if someone else's grass is greener.

Offensively yep. Defensively, debatable.
I'm OK with our 3 headed monster at the center position.

Well, yeah. But in what world was that an option? You do know Ingram was traded for AD, not Danny Green, right?

So the Bulls fired Jim Boylen, that’s something to keep a eye on because which ever coach they bring in will dictate what they do with Zach LaVine.

Nevermind the idea that BI is probably going to get signed for $22-30mil.

Lonzo is in a weird spot. At one point he was an LA media darling drawing big crowds and having Magic all but put his jersey in the rafters. Now he's probably going to be in a contract year for a new coach with Zion and Ingram clearly ahead of him in the pecking order. That's to say nothing of Holiday.

As for Beal, if he's looking at pairing with KD and Kyrie in NY, vs Zion and Ingram in New Orleans, you gotta figure he's going to have some choice words for the Pels.
