KUZ STARTING - MCGEE BACK W STARTERS

Per Trudell

Kyle Kuzma will start on the wing tonight in place of KCP (foot). Pretty big lineup there with Kuz next to LeBron, Green, AD and McGee, but they like how Kuz is playing and want to see what that group looks like.

NBA INJURIES- PLEASE BE SPECIFIC

I feel like I’ve posted something like this already once before so I’m not sure why this is coming up again but anyway…

Per Shams

Sources: The NBA has informed teams that they are no longer allowed to report injuries in general terms such as conditioning, reconditioning, soreness and fatigue; telling them they must use specific reason/body part.

LIL RONDO & ROTATION NEWS

Per Faigen

As for how close Rondo is to returning, Frank Vogel had this to say.

"He's got to get his legs under him. You go five or six weeks without playing basketball, you can work out all you want it's just not the same is playing in a game."

https://twitter.com/hmfaigen/status/1296591768406773760?s=21

Per Oram

Frank Vogel addressing media pregame: No change to the starting lineup, Rondo still out and he said he is likely to expand rotation to include Dion Waiters and/or J.R. Smith

https://twitter.com/billoram/status/1296587891351539712?s=21

Per Goon

Frank Vogel says it’s “likely” that he adds another player to the rotation tonight. Hasn’t decided, and might if the Lakers are struggling to score again.

LILLARD PLANS TO PLAY

To be expected as I heard that the finger is on his non-shooting hand anyway. #MiniMamba

Per Goon

Damian Lillard is getting treatment on his dislocated finger, and he’ll play tomorrow in Game 3. Says Terry Stotts: “At this point we kind of expect this from Dame.”

POSSIBLE LINEUP STRATEGY

Per Trudell

Frank Vogel said the Lakers have talked about Portland potentially changing their lineup, and are prepared for it.

https://twitter.com/lakersreporter/status/1297309524693405696?s=21

Perhaps Portland starts Trent, Jr. at the 3 for Gabriel, going small and trying to improve the shot quality they’ve struggled to find w/their bigger group. Of course, that’s the unit POR usually closes with, so the Lakers have seen it. LAL often close w/AD at the 5.

MORE PORTLANDIA LINEUP STRATEGY

Per Trudell

Instead, Portland is going with their extra big lineup of Hassan Whiteside next to Jusuf Nurkic. That group was effective in Game 1 when LAL couldn’t hit an open shot, but Whiteside/Nurkic had a 2-man net rating of -31.1 in Game 2.
