If we are choosing to play AD at the 4 Dwight should be the starting center... He brings Rebounding and Toughness that Javale doesn't...I like Javale but he doesn't bring anything unique to the starting lineup that Dwight cant do...and Dwight is just a better rebounder and can frustrate the other teams starting bigs.

While I agree, Javale will check out. Starting matters a lot to him. He checked out last year when Zubac took his spot. JaVale doesn’t complain about lack of minutes but he will if he has to come off the bench.

What the Lakers should have done in that situation was trade JaVale and keep the guy that outplayed him.
If JaVale checks out if Dwight took his spot it just goes to show he doesn't need to be there. Whether he's starting or the bench he needs to stay aggressive.

Credit Vogel and the coaching staff for letting Dwight Howard to buy in, I’m not sure if Howard would have done the same thing right now if we had Mike D’Antoni and his staff for example.. the people we have right now know how to control the players, heck Waiters hasn’t gotten a lot of PT but he’s not complaining because we have good leaders on this team.
it's just funny to watch him wreck people inside, piss them off, then get pissed off himself like clockwork every game
Not so funny watching him rack up silly fouls and build a poor reputation with the refs, but then again it's on brand for this post-prime reinvented version of himself. He's been like a poor man's Rodman or Ben Wallace for us on the glass. But 8.6 fouls per 36 minutes!

Dwight has had a few years of injuries, diminished play, and (by his standards) modest contracts. In his interviews with the Lakers, he seemed pretty candid that he realized how far he had fallen. I don't know if the coaching staff really needed to get him to buy in. He seemed to have his head on straight and a realistic idea of the status of his NBA career from the get-go.

No doubt that Howard is mostly responsible for the turnaround in his positive attitude and everything that’s been going well.
I think it’s also because he is on a team with a defensive coach, and older players like Lebron, Rondo, and Dudley to encourage him to accept his role.
Dwights not soft! He’s got that Mamba Mentality after all. He’s the one player on the team I want to see win a ring the most, and I hated him for 99% of his career.
The Kristine Leahy interview was the start of the turning point for me. Arriving a day early for his workout. The signing with the Lakers. Staying in shape. Accepting his role. Mike D wouldn’t want any part of Howard, nor would most teams. His game is from a decade ago, that is why small doses sometimes works, at least when his decision making doesn’t get in the way.
