t block

symmetrical, but not boring like the square or shaft (also no potential innuendos that the latter is subject to)

also it's purple

Yeah this block has the most utility, though most players strategize around getting the straight line block so that will probably win the poll.

Long one or shaft (heh) by far. It allows you to clear multiple rows if you're good enough. I got to be damn good, but Tetris comes with that drawback every player knows about. You lie down at night and not only does your mind "see" falling Tetris pieces, but you're also turning them in your head. That sh takes a long time to clear if you've been playing a lot of T. It's akin to going to Magic Mountain and when you're in bed the night of, you still "feel" the sensation of moving up n down at high speed. Tetris was the most effective Russian plot to subvert the minds of young Americans until 2016.

Nutcracker Suite is the best Tetris background song, btw.

Straight line block for the reason stated

When you get to the higher levels though and the speed becomes breakneck, the straight line strategy becomes untenable. That’s when the T’s versatility becomes vital.

Gimme the Shaft, all day all night. I was Wizard Kevin Arnold on gameboy Tetris at 11. I was insanely good. I honestly think I set world records in gameboy Tetris and Mario kart Solo timed rainbow level. I think I did that (bleep) in like barely over a minute on full blast, no brakes ever, sooped up start with the little ghost guy telling me that I was going backwards on every jump.

Were you good at Marble Madness, Dladi V? I hated that game and Paperboy. Couldn't get the knack for either. Great to see you post, homes. Hope yer well.

Ocho is correct. While the lure of four rows disappearing at once makes the long straight piece popular, the T is the more versatile piece as you get into the speedier portions of the game. That long piece becomes a liability.

L and reverse L.
You can clear two rows if you use them like a shaft.
And if you lay them on their side they stack without giving up a row with every other piece besides one of the Z's

Btw, tetris on the iPhone is garbage. Any time I clear 3M lines the thing starts glitching like a mf. However I do get there by way of the almighty shaft.
