So, maybe not a top 3 or so show, tomorrow we have LIVE sports, as Nascar, with its built-in driver protection gear, will air tomorrow (3:30 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

If you have Hulu and haven't seen Snowfall. I'd recommend it. It's no the Wire. But it's a solid 8+. Another show in my yearly top 10 since it's debut.

Homecomig season 2 is out on Amazon Prime. If you haven't watched season 1 yet. Just binge both seasons. It's a quality show. I give it an 8.5+

Has anyone watched this show Locked up (“Vis a Vis” in Spanish)? It's available on Netflix. 4 seasons. I recommend it if your tastes aren't too snobbish; same vein as Money Heist. Anyway, there's a spin-off series that just launched with the two lead characters called "Vis a vis: El oasis". I'm curious if anyone has been able to locate it through legal or illegal means. Maybe a VPN change to Spain will grant Netflix access to it.

I am HOOKED on Dear White People. It's articulation of racism is very Merriam Webster, verbally intelligent. It will have you scurrying to find your Funk & Wagnalls to keep up. I recommend it. I'm up to Volume 2 Chapter III. Lovin it.

HBO Original Series Showdown

Anyone notice? Anyone care? From my perspective, 3 of the 4 finalists are worthy.

One out of four, I think. The correct list is, in order:
The Wire
Sopranos
Deadwood
Six Feet Under

I'm also amenable to Band of Brothers, but I ignored all mini-series (unlike Ribby's poll, I admit).

Also, shoutouts to The Leftovers, Curb, Mr. Show, Veep, Eastbound and Down, Extras, the first seasons of Westworld, True Detective, Silicon Valley, and the pilot of Boardwalk Empire

Boardwalk Empire and True Detective had VERY strong 1st seasons. But I couldn't put either of them over Wire, Sopranos, and Deadwood.

In terms of HBO 30 minute shows. Curb has the crown. And Entourage will always be one of my personal favorites.

Wire, Sopranos, and Six Feet have to be in the top five or six. Deadwood, Treme, GOT (for it's sweeping epicness) up there.

I really need to watch Treme. Huge David Simon fan - that and the Deuce are the only works of his (written or television) I haven't consumed.

Good show. Well made. Better than 80% of the things on TV.

But I wouldn't put it on the same level as Wire, Sopranos, and Deadwood.

Deuce didn't have the peaks and valleys that Boardwalk and True Detective had. If you ranked seasons/episodes of those 3 shows. Boardwalk and True Detective would have the best and worst seasons/episodes. And Deuce would fill out the middle. Of course, how much you like the subject matter would affect your rankings though.

Seasons 2 and 3 were great. Season 1 though, it was a little rough.

One season wonders like Chernobyl, Watchmen and Band of Brothers shouldn't be in there. They were all great but they weren't burdened with maintaining success in multiple seasons. The writers didn't have to script seasons wondering if they'll get renewed for the following season.

Yeah, I have those as limited series (I guess the word miniseries is out of vogue).

Just realized that was a click-able link. Wow, I disagree with alot of that.
I'd take Entourage and Insecure over Sex and the City.
Deadwood over Westworld.
The New Pope over The Young Pope.
Sopranos over Chernobyl. Chernobyl was FANTASTIC. But you gotta give credit to shows that sustain excellence for multiple seasons. Otherwise Watchmen is better than GOT.

If we're talking about HBO series, I'm going to throw a bone to The Larry Sanders Show. No flipping!

Perry Mason on HBO. Bummed that it was only 30 minutes long and surprised that Perry was a PI, not an attorney. I’m not sold on this one yet.

Yeah, that’s a magnificent show. It’s funny that I disliked his standup and found him to be an obnoxious person, but at the same time could t wait to see the next episode of his show. I watched the documentary about him, The Sen Diaries if Garry Shandling, and it made me realize he was more obnoxious than I thought, and also made me care about him as a human.

It's rare for a show to be predictable and yet still very good.
But Apple+'s Defending Jacob fits that description.
