Official Netflix Teaser
I've seen bits and pieces of this since my wife is one of the producers (and worked her ass off), and what I have seen is really damn good (as one would expect with such a cast).
I'm excited to finally see the final product. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

No comments? I watched the first and into the second episode. I'm not sure where I'm at as to my overall opinion on it. I will say that Steve Carell's performance is uninspired. |

I have watched the first few episodes. It has moments, but I find it slow for a comedy.
If the long arc is “Boots on the Moon,” I think it gets lost and/or is not that compeling.
I keep waiting for it to ramp up as a show. |

I enjoyed it. It’s not incredible, but it was solidly entertaining. I liked the characters, but the plot felt like it jumped some major arcs, really quickly.
SLIGHT SPOILERS BELOW:
They went from struggling to launch a satellite to really quickly sending up a moon habitat, seemingly within a few months. Really felt like they took what should have been a multi season plot line and just flew through it. |

I liked it. I really wanted to like it though. Some moments were hamfisted and missed their mark, but I have hope for it in the future.
This might not a good take, but I think they tried to make the characters too likable and it made them feel less real imo. I feel like they didn't know exactly what to do with Carrell's character and he was slow developing.
Fred Willard and Malkovich were my favorite parts of the show. |

I've finally watched the first two episodes with my wife, but we haven't had a chance to watch the rest.
My wife and I were surprised that the reviews were not good and I had seen early versions of them a few months ago and they were really funny. So I was disappointed to see the changes that were made since then. My wife (who works the production end) knew that Post had made a bunch of changes and cut out a good deal (which really bugged her because they were elaborate scenes that were expensive to shoot), but we both surprised by what had been cut.
The pilot episode was really good, but by the time the cuts were made, a lot of the comedy and scenes didn't track as well. Not sure what the decision making was and my wife has had only a few discussions about what post was doing since everything went into lock down a few months ago.
I'm disappointed by what I have seen so far, but it was #1 on Netflix until Friday and the calls my wife has had with the execs there have been good . . . so I guess that's good for the show at least. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

It’s a miracle any film turns out good with how many people touch it. I was always amazed at how a fantastic screenplay could end up a failure of a movie when I worked in the business. So much can go wrong at any step along the way. |

Oh man, the stories I could tell from my years in post of the cluster (bleep) I've been in the middle of when things go off the rails. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

First episode not even a chuckle and I was getting concerned because the reviews were horrible.
By the end of the third I really started to enjoy it and got some good laughs out of me. Can't wait to watch the rest! |

We watched the first episode tonight. It wasn't good, but I expecting worse given the reviews and some of the comments on here. I did laugh a couple of times, chuckled a couple of times, and my husband laughed harder than I did at the times where I did laugh. (I thought the very last line of the episode from Steve Carell, where he swears upon seeing something he doesn't like through the telescope, was funny; I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it.) Some things really missed the mark though, like badly.
Here's hoping it gets better, as Snipes talks about above. I'll watch the whole thing unless it's just genuinely terrible for 3 more episodes. |

I'm on the last episode
IMO some of the episodes are decent, some are outright horrible (e.g., the battle episode vs the air force), and none are great _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |

The cast is really solid between Carrell, Malkovich, Paltrow, Schwartz, and Yang.
The second episode cracked me up. I don't remember laughing during the 1st and 3rd episodes. But they kept my attention.
Seems like they're more focused on telling the story than making me laugh. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Carell and Malkovich make a good duo and I really enjoyed the scenes with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

It was ok.
End of season cliffhanger was very predictable and not very compelling.
That said, there were funny parts.
Uestion why no reveal on the crime done by the imprisoned character? Jst seemed to serve no purpose to leave that dangling. |

Yup there are some good moments. But that's about it. I' on episode 8 now and I've only laughed a handful of times throughout the show. Here's to hoping future seasons will be better. |
