What are your resources for good food and drink recipes, especially these days?

I usually use Six Seasons by Joshua McFadden and A Change in Appetite by Diana Henry for veggie and seafood-centric mains and the indispensable Death&Co. cocktail bible and Smuggler's Cove for my tiki needs. And given all the time at home these days I'm baking simple no-knead bread out of a couple Jim Lahey books I picked up over the years, which has proven to be very good.

I've been itching to branch out into more South Asian cuisine, but really anything new. Anyone have any good international cuisine cookbook recommendations?

My bible is the Prudhomme family cookbook. It has some great Southern recipes. I have been getting into Eastern Africa cuisine lately and have a couple of books but haven’t found anything that I can recommend so far.

My sweet spot is somewhere between northern Italian, French, and NW American, but lately I’ve been delving into my Scandinavian roots with The New Nordic and Sacandinavian Comfort Food.

Tack! Those both look great and remind me of visits to Scandinavia.

For some reason I’ve been seeing a lot about men who love cookbooks lately. I must be honest, I find it sort of peculiar. Nothing wrong with it, it just never registered in my brain before. Up until now, I had only considered the audience for such books as female.

Are either or both of you regular cooks for your household? Or are they used to encourage whoever is?

I love to cook and do so all the time. I only occasionally use the recipes. Mostly I use them for inspiration.

I cook almost daily. I don't use recipes. I also don't use measuring cups, spoons and such. I bake from scratch. I'm a ol skool cook. I'll bet most in the forum remember mama and grandma cooking without a book or measuring tools.

Fellas, it is not gay to own and use cookbooks.

Joes not that old. He did, however, learn to bake in early Mesopotamia

Cakes, sweet potato pie to name a few. My favorite isn't baked it's banana pudding. Homogenized milk, evaporated milk, instant vanilla pudding mix, cool whip, vanilla wafers, and bananas. Just made one today. Yum Yum!!

Suggestion; Use glass dish, let sit overnight in fridge before serving.

National High School Rodeo Association Cookbook.
Got it years ago at a Alhambra bookstore. It is a compilation of contributed recipes from the families of Rodeo contestants and were pretty much made of stuff you can find easily in your own kitchen. Mostly nothing fancy. I'm sure you can never find it but I would certainly recommend a similar cookbook.

One of these things is not like the other...

These days, anything I want to cook that I don't already know how to do, I research online and find recipes there.

But when I was a teen back in the '70's, "The Anarchist Cookbook" was very popular reading for me and my peers.

Bomb making was a rarely used luxury recipe compared to the rest of the content.

Counted my wife's cookbooks...185. Bet if I looked hard enough I could get that over 200.
