So we have a thread for "Cover Versions" and we have a thread for music that "Jams", so how about a thread for NEW Music that you recently discovered?
I found an female Italian band, that has three albums out, that I'd never heard of before a few hours ago, sort of an Ethereal mix of early Cure and Siouxsie & the Banshees mix:
Anyone else discovering any new and exciting stuff whilst stuck at home?? _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”
A friend of mine showed me This band a couple months ago. Went out and bought two of their records, and I highly enjoyed them. That's probably the last new stuff I've seriously dug into.

I've been meaning to give this thread a well deserved bump for a while because it's a great addition to the other music threads.
So, in the spirit of the thread, I bring you Brittany Howard.
I always dug Alabama Shakes and dug her voice. But I was unaware of Brittany's solo work until I heard her on Marc Maron's podcast. I immediately started listening to her solo album after hearing her speak of her passion for just making music based on her respect for musicians even though she doesn't consider herself one. More importantly, the way she praised drummers and the textures percussion bring when layered with different melodies and musical styles. She knows her stuff and she gets it.
What she talked about so glowingly is totally evident in her solo album. There's a true diversity in the various songs, but also in the individual pieces.
The whole album is solid, but I find myself gravitating to the more raw pieces like "13th Century Metal" and "He Loves Me". The really cool blending of musical and sonic dissonance with prominent percussion is so very cool. And then there's the funkiness of "History Repeats" that has hints of Bowie's glam years.
I think some of you guys might really enjoy it if you haven't already heard it. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Speaking of new stuff I've been finding, how about some Nordic Folk Music, here is a couple with some great female vocals and over 18 & 20 million views that I had never even heard of...
very cool visuals too!
And not sure what this is, except wild...!
And to be further freaked out:

A mainstay of the local funk scene is breakestra. They took off a bit with their live mixtapes where they play the songs that are sampled in well known hip hop classics.
As the band name suggests, break beats is their thing.
Nick Waterhouse. Sort of in the vein of Alabama shakes in that his sound would probably fit more in the 60s.
Monophonics - I guess the closest I can think of for comparison is Electric Mayhem.
Song and Dance by Pavlov’s Dog. Not new to me, I saw them around St. Louis a half dozen times in high school, but not well known. One of their albums really played up to the Ivan Pavlov theme, At the Sound of the Bell. Dude’s voice is definitely different. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
