He is playing The Fonda in LA tonight, you can still make it

I had my ticket, but a work situation screwed me. I'm still crushed I missed it, but very glad you got to see him in SD.

So sorry you missed it. The good news is he is going to be around (God willing) for a long long time so we will get to see him a lot more times!

Only complaint had nothing to do with him, but the crowd at the Music Box in San Diego. Bar is attached to the main concert room and way too many people were talking and not paying attention during the show which has to be a downer for the artist.

Maybe (OK for sure) I am just old, but if you are going to a concert, shut up and listen to the music for crissakes. Climbing off my soap box now...

A couple of tunes that made my commute home on a very surreal Friday the 13th more enjoyable:

Some funkiness:

The True Loves - Famous Last Words (Live on KEXP)

And a jammin' cover:

Turkuaz - Slippery People - Live

I bet most of you have heard of The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I suppose a few of you know the names of their many guitar players.

Well the second and fourth(?) guitar player was John Frusciante.

I would be surprised if anyone here has heard of the 70's Kraut rock band NEU or their guitarist, Michael Rother, right?

Well, back in 2004 those two guitarists played a concert at the Knitting factory in Hollywood, along with another guitarist named Josh Klinghoffer (who played drums on this night).

It was an awesome show, the interesting thing was that not only did no one sing, they could not even talk as there was no on stage mic...

But they JAMMED, as the show was recorded:

Inca Roads by Frank Zappa

Zappa can be hit or miss for me most of the time, but I love anything that George Duke played on. This song has some truly breathtaking passages, and I dig the way George approached the vocal.

Not really a jam, but definitely one of my favorite songs to see whenever I go so this freaking legend of American music live:
John Prine - Lake Marie (Live From Sessions at West 54th)

Godspeed John. Be well.

Tonight's moment in Lockdown-Headphone-Escapism: An instrument groove to get the head bobbin', the feet tappin' and maybe even the hands drummin'. No words, just some great grooves, melodies and beats:

True Loves - Famous Last Words (Live on KEXP)

Talk Talk live

With DMR's recall of this great group in his sister thread, I wanted more and found some GREAT live stuff. There are several songs here from a Montreux concert. It sounded so good I thought maybe they were lip syncing.

Staying with the 80's, here's my fav OMD song and some dance moves that could possibly have been an early influence on Mark Madsen!
