Reading the Ja'net thread theme songs were brought up. So I thought I'd ask LG.

What's your favorite theme song?

Breaking Bad is the best since it's short and good. For a longer one I like Game of Thrones. Justified was good too.

Hard to believe there were 3 wasted posts before the correct answer showed up.

You're right! I had the music in my head!

I'd say that Peaky Blinders "Red Right Hand" is the winner though.

Need to distinguish between instrumentals and songs. If we're talking strictly theme songs, with words, then it's a close race between the Jeffersons and the Beverly Hillbillies.

Instrumentals I'd go with Sanford & Sons, Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, or Taxi.

Oh wait...there's The Newhart theme too. The one in Vermont. So good.

There's a cool story behind that one. When Steven Bochco was talking to the composer Mike Post about doing it, Steven said he wanted it to be all drums. Mike Post thought he was nuts and said you can't do that, but Bochco was adamant. So Mike left the meeting thinking how the "eff am I gonna do that?" . . . then he heard a subway train banging through a station and had the "AHA!" moment that became the theme.

Always put Bochco in the same category as Michael Mann, guys who had an uncanny ability to understand subtle things like hue and sounds that gave their works such distinct flavor
