It's a sad ending to a show that had such promise.

Here is everything I've enjoyed in the last 6 months or so -

*Watchman - my favorite. If you are a comic book geek, I don't know how this isn't one of your favorites as well. Best show I've watched since Season 1 of Westworld.
*Designated Survivor - Its good political porn for those who miss the West Wing.
*The Witcher - This was supposed to be a Game of Thrones replacement. It doesn't meet that standard IMO. However, still a fun and quirky show.
*The Mandalorian - Fun show and possibly better than the recent movies, but overhyped simply due to Star Wars Nostalgia and a cute baby yoda.
*Marvelous Ms. Maisel - Just watched season 2. Love this show. Grew up with this brand of humor.
*The Expanse - My favorite "space show" since Battlestar Galactica. Only up to the middle of season 2 thus far (there are 4 seasons).
*Lost in Space - Its a really good reinvention. Much better than the stupid movie re-make.
*The Good Place - Just mindless fun you can watch in 30 min segments.
*(bleep)'s Creek - See the Good Place.
*One Punch Man - Good Anime.
*Fleabag - Watched 10 minutes of the first episode then stopped. Need to give it a second chance.
*The Boys - Awesome. Can't wait for season 2.
*Suits - It just wrapped its series run. I always enjoyed the show (even if a completely unrealistic version of the legal world), so continued to watch it. However, I will say, that the quality dropped in seasons 8-10 IMO (after the Mike character left), which is probably why it was cancelled.
*Lucifer - I've watched most of the first season. I'm iffy on it, but told it picks up as things go along.
*Supernatural - Watching the last season after not watching it for two seasons. Figured I watched it for so many years, have to catch the final season.
*Silicone Valley - Always liked this show, but feeling like its going to come to an end soon. They can't keep up the same shtick forever.

Looking forward to the Pickard series. I want to watch You on Netflix and the Man in the High Tower on Amazon. Any others any of you would suggest next that aren't on this post? For example, I stopped watching Better Call Saul after season 2, should I re-invest? Same question for the Walking Dead and Westworld (haven't watched season 2).

Finally finished Watchmen. Holy crap....I echo LS 100%. Best show since S1 Westworld. Edged out the Boys for me and I (bleep) LOVED that show.

With that said, I had bad feelings about S2 of Westworld before it came out. It was so perfectly wrapped up in the first season that the next one would be an entirely different show altogether. That's exactly how Westworld S2 played out. I don't see where else you go with Watchmen and I'm afraid a S2 will play out the same way as WW. It can't possibly capture the same essence of season 1.

All in all, it was such a great ride--plot, dialogue and acting were perfect across the board. Execution was perfect. Music and the other icings were on point.

I think these 3 have been cancelled or not renewed.

yeah, Mike and Rachel became the lifeblood of the show....the spinoff was canceled after the first season.

I think it gets a little better in the Netflix seasons (After Season 2?)

I enjoyed Man in the High Tower and Better Call Saul. Walking Dead has been bad for a few seasons, and Westworld was not great after Season 1.

Some suggestions....
- The Morning Show (Apple TV)
- For All Mankind (Apple TV)
- See (Apple TV)
- Jett (Cinemax)
- Reprisal (Hulu)
- Castle Rock (Hulu)
- Unbelievable (Netflix)
- The Sinner (USA Network)
- Succession (HBO)
- Chernobyl (HBO) (mini-series) (assume you have seen Sharp Objects and The Night Of)
- Barry (HBO)
- The Righteous Gemstones (HBO)
- City on a Hill (Showtime)

I like your rundown and takes. I"ll have to check out the shows I haven't watched from it.

I would recommend Peaky Blinders. Great acting and great writing.

Last Kingdom is good, too, just not as good.

I've just finished Outlander Season 1 and I quite liked it. Well acted, and written. I feel there might be too many episodes to sustain quality writing long term but we will see.

Handmaid's Tale is great if you haven't seen it. I thought the quality dipped in the recent season, but its great slow-burn suspenseful story telling. Alarming in a lot of ways, very well acted and written. I caught on late, but was floored with how real it felt.

Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they are giving up their roles as Senior Members of the Royal Family, and plan on spending half of their time in North America while becoming financially independent.....maybe a Suits reboot or spin off?

***maybe even give the Prince some cameo work or maybe he can learn to use the camera's for extra income...

Just thought you should know that the most recent season of SV was indeed its last. and you should most definitely reinvest in BCS.

As to walking dead . . . you're good, lol.

As to westworld . . . really just depends on how much you loved season 1 and how satisfied you were with its conclusion. If you had your fill and you're all good, i think you can avoid it. If you need to scratch that itch or want to jump back into season 3, yeah, watch it, but do yourself a favor and keep your expectations fairly low. I actually think it was better than everyone gave it credit, but if you were a very big WW season 1 fan, than you may be setting yourself up for disappointment if you go in with sky-high expectations. FWIW, i think season 3 will be good - it's got Aaron Paul! (Jesse from BB) - so you may want to watch it just to catch up plot wise.

Is that the show where Jesus is gay and Mary is addicted to drugs? Why? Don't get me wrong, I could care less if Jesus was gay, a female or 7' tall....but why take a figure that is so revered by a large portion of the population and assign characteristics that were never described in the literature? I am no religion expert, but does not most religious scholars kind of accept he was a dark complected man with dark hair and a slight build that performed miracles? Maybe I am missing the point, but why assign pointless characteristics to the figure?

I had high hopes for that show, for exactly the same reason. The premise had so much potential. The first season was okay (very networky, but it could have been worse), then they changed the showrunner, and it became a mess with stupid plot twists and cliches. I gave up after a few episodes in the second season. ABC then canceled it and Netflix picked it up for the third season. I wonder if they canceled it, too.

I wish that show was created by HBO or AMC or whatever with much better writers who could have exploited its potential.

I got sucked into watching "The Good Place" by watching it recently on an airplane because I had heard good things and I thought, "why not?" . . . and I have to say I'm glad I did.

It's classic quality sitcom - clever, genuinely funny, perfectly cast and over the top in a tongue in cheek way.

No. Because it is about something else. Artist license. Religious scholars, yes; historians, not so much. It is, or can be, the nature of fiction.

Just started watching "You" with the wife. She likes it, so will keep up with it. Thanks for the advice all. Once I finish the Expanse, I'll set my sights back on Better Call Saul.

Need to watch Handmaid's tale, peaky blinders and people have also recommended Narco to me. Definitely need to watch Chernobyl too.

Cutheon - Westworld season 1 was maybe the best bit of television I have ever seen. However, it also required so much focus and brain power, that it became a show that required a lot of investment. I was pretty happy with the ending and I think I am saving myself by not going back to it. Appreciate your analysis.

Yes you do....I mean it was really really good. I am somewhat jealous you can binge it instead of having to wait a week for each episode. One thing that I did enjoy was the accompanying podcast they did with the Director each week. If you binge, not sure you will get the opportunity to utilize the podcast, but it is really enlightening and helps appreciate the show even more.

It is a year or two old, but did you watch "The Night Of" on HBO? That is another that I would give close to a perfect 10 score.

It has ties to the office and parks and rec, so I figured it would be decent and it is.

Those are 2 of the best HBO miniseries I have watched. Easily both top 5, IMO.

Earlier in the thread I said how I liked the Season 1 of Westworld. I've been hearing about it for years and I finally decided to watch it. It was fantastic.

And then I was warned how bad Season 2 was. And now I know. It is almost unwatchable. Reminds me of the difference between the first and second seasons of True Detective.

Westworld season 2 was awful. It predictably went off the rails and no longer had the same focus as the first. As I mentioned prior, everything that made Westworld 1 one of the best single seasons of TV ever doesn't exist in S2. I gutted out the entire season and regretted putting in the time.

To those that watched the Expanse, how long did it take for you to get sucked in? I've tried to watch it based on the stellar reviews and the genre being right up my alley but couldn't get pass the first half hour.

The first half hour. I love the show though. I finally watched it I think long after reading about it here.

If you want to watch a show go from great to absolute trash in 3 episodes. Netflix's Dracula is the perfect miniseries for you.
