What a huge shadow he cast. At once visionary and petty, brilliant and tyrannical. Knew how to ride bird and magic, got a lot of miles with the one star to rule them all mj years, the totality of which almost killed the league when mj retired. Saved by his foresight into global using the league.
His history with our team, from his acknowledgement of the value of having the Lakers to his endless quest to black hat them and even stymie them based on his east coast bias, is a very muddy thing. And apparently he wasn’t a very nice guy to work with or for (there’s a rumor that Adam silver is actually on 35 years old), or personally.
Anyway, RIP to a huge figure in the sport. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

What does on 35 years mean? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Yeah, I mean, there's no question that he is a giant figure in basketball history and deserves major props for his part in growing the game from where it was in the late 1970's, in the dark days of taped-delayed NBA Finals games. And I would never, ever wish harm on the man or be glad that he's now gone. However, it would be highly disingenuous of me to express sadness at the news of his death. Yeah, not gonna happen.
The league wouldn't be the league as we know it without him.
I only met him a few times and didn't know him well. I certainly can't describe his attitude toward me as anything resembling warm & friendly (the first time I met him, he let out a big sigh) -- but I do have friends who worked closely with him for a long time, and all of them talk about him in glowing terms.
