Mr. Green is going the way of Mr. Kuzma, reliable for only one thing (3 point shot) and barely that. I'm not just basing my assessment on tonight. Green is supposed to be a lock down defender, but I haven't seen any evidence of that the entire season. I also haven't noticed him being a true rebounder, and he doesn't produce any assists. His mid range game is horrendous, and he misses layups too frequently. So, if he isn't making his 3 point shots, his value to the Lakers team is stymied.
We can put Kuzma (and to an extend KCP) in the same category as Green, players that may have big 3 point shooting nights every 6-7th game, or so. But between those big games, we get little to nothing from them.
I like both Kuzma and Green, but I have to pull for the team before individuals. Kuzma and Green are wildly inconsisent and cannot be relied upon to do any one particular thing really good, game in and game out.
Very disappointed in D. Green. Hope he and Kuz get out of their collective funks and start contributing.
I don't think Danny at this point is a lock down defender. Avery and KCP are better lock down defenders than Danny is. DG is a good help defender and knows how to pick some pockets here and there. If I were Vogel, I would probably start Avery and KCP together instead of Avery/DG. Danny Green could be a good compliment to the bench unit.
But I would also play DG down the stretch in 4th quarters since I trust him a lot to hit the big shots.

If you watched Danny in Toronto, he often was getting beat on D, but he has great recovery skills. What he does is stand in position where he is close enough to contest a shot, but also if he is beat off the dribble to help.
He has never been so much the guy that sticks to you like glue, like we have with AD, Caruso, Avery and Dwight. Those guys are different level.
Green is more IQ, and a quality defender, than lockdown. Agree. I think he is also a great clutch time 2-way player if you know what I mean.
Totally agree that he would help our bench big time, We could try and run a lineup of Dwight, AD or Lebron, Green, Daniels and Rondo. Green and Daniels sharing the court together with Rondo gives us some nice spacing and targets for him. Run some pick and rolls with the bigs and Rondo, and just sit back and watch him find the open man.
bad game but overall he's played well for what he is.. a 3 and D guy who will focus on just that. A bit over priced at 15mil though... I cant help but think of how much better we'd be if Green's KCP's and Mcgees salaries was put to better use. Bojan on the Jazz is making only 1.5mil more than Green...
Thanks alot to that snake Kawhi _________________ (bleep) Kawhi

So overpaid. We could have had Russell for Green and KCP’s combined salaries. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Per NBA.com Green is fifth on the team in Drtg and third in net rating. He’s just in a slump right now. A couple games ago he was shooting mid 40s from 3.

Why would he take $5M less, when he already agreed to work with the Nets to find him a landing spot that would get him the most money? Had we offered him the max on June 30th, perhaps he chooses us over Golden State, otherwise I don't see it happening.

He wouldn’t. Things like that are only possible in the land of hypotheticals.
I love the back to back responses citing an arbitrary “advanced statistic” without any context. He can’t hit shots, nor does he slow down anyone, as OP stated. Well, the stats tell us... well, those stats didn’t do anything to slow down Murray, got any shot he wanted tonight.

Yes the eye test is important, but the stats are not arbitrary just because they don't fit your viewpoint
Green had a below average game but it happens, most of the time the guy plays really good.
People like to say shooting comes and goes but defense is always consistent; that's not true, players have bad defensive nights all the time
Some ya'll don't know what to expect from role players, do ya?
DG is doing everything we signed him to, play some D and hit shots. He's always been inconsistent in numbers and makes his dumb passes. Already won us one game with a clutch shot.

Glad we dodged that bullet! _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

If we did that our defense would be much worse, and we'd have to deal with Russell's inconsistent shooting, not to mention the fact that he's an on the ball player and can't really play off the ball.
Green and KCP are 2-way players. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers
sharpshooters like him have impact no matter how they are shooting on any given night. I bet you no coach is telling his players to double off of green. There's no chance he gets benched because the bulk of his minutes need to come with AD and Bron on the floor together.
His job has been done before he even steps foot on the court IMO _________________ “like I never left”
He has been the 2nd biggest disappointment (after Kuz) on this team. The fact that we are playing so well only makes the rest of the season look great considering at least one of them will figure it out.
