and it also claims water is wet!

Lakers fans are NBA's most loyal and engaged, study says

Quote:
Michael Lewis, the faculty directory of Emory University’s marketing analytics center, analyzed NBA fan loyalty and engagement using three standard metrics — fan equity (home revenue), road equity (attendance draw for the visiting team) and social equity (Twitter reach) — all controlled for variables like team success and market population. Fan equity, which accounts for how well a team’s supporters attend and spend at games in the home arena, is weighted equally to social and road equity combined.

Per Lewis’ analysis, the Lakers led the NBA in both social and road equity while ranking second to the New York Knicks in fan equity, which earned L.A. the top overall spot. The Lakers were followed in order by the Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers in the top five.

It is near criminal the Knicks do not provide their loyal fan base a better product, or at least show real progress. They still show up at MSG.

Does this study include the fans who left to jump on the Warrior and Clipper bandwagons?

Never was an issue. Lakers fans have filled “away” arenas, every year, that’s why they are hated so much and loved at the same time; teams like Atlanta that struggle with attendance are sold out on Laker nights.

Forget the warriors!

Up here in the Bay Area, even in the midst of the warriors mini-boom, every Lakers game would feature a good bit of us "roadies".. almost like the Grateful Dead!

Tickets prices for Charlotte Hornet games at SeatGeek:

March 19 76ers @ Charlotte: tickets from $8
March 24 Trail Blazers @ Charlotte: tickets from $5

But, March 21 Lakers @ Charlotte: tickets from $67.

I think it was Atlanta in particular that was selling Lakers merchandise in the arena because of all the Lakers fans present.

Bye.

Good lord, NBA seats at the same value as my local JV high school squad?

Best fan base for sure. Look at the Cavs and the Heat when Lebron left. Dead dead dead. If Lebron and AD left tomorrow, all of you (bleep) including me will be back here talking about our roster.

Flyover cities have ridiculously low ticket prices. Even the Clippers surprised me this year: I got to sit in PR for $17/seat to watch Giannis manage a load that he dropped on Staples Center a couple of weeks ago.

5 bucks for a game!?

And for those wondering why Kobe got an extension from us...
That’s why. Butts in the seats. The other 29 teams loved the farewell tour.
It’s a business first.

it is worse for the Magic.....a bunch of games around the Lakers have tickets starting in the teens....then the Lakers is over $100 last time I checked. Lower bowl seats are similar what I paid for 2009 Finals tickets.

seems to me that simply having more fans will give a team a better score in the three criteria
