Hit the panic button Portland. Feel free to send us CJ for KCP and scraps.

I was just coming to Comment on this in the b-ball thread b/c they just mentioned it during the game I’m watching. Happy for him that he signed somewhere and happy for us that he’s not coming to the Lakers. A Win Win 🙂

They gave him the "Dwight Special" contract but I don't see it playing out the same way.

Good for them. Now it's a done deal that he isn't coming here.

I would be astonished if he has anything left in the tank.

Over/Under on him finishing the season in Portland = 50%

24 minutes....4 of 14, 5 TO's and 5 personal fouls. Even worse, he was a -20 in a game they lost by 11 points....by far the worst +/- on the team.

It's weird to me how players like Kobe and Carmelo suddenly go from being superstars to hugely detrimental to their teams as soon as their skills decline. Players like Duncan, KG, Vince Carter, etc. just go from being superstars to role players when their physical abilities decline. Carmelo just fell off a cliff in terms of impact.

Has mostly to do with their mental ability towards the game. If you are the center of the offense for so long its hard to give that up. AI was probably the most glaring example, he was unstoppable at his peak, but once he got old and his skills declined, he couldn't come to grips with his limitations but still possessed the superstar demands that no team wanted to deal with.

many people point to KLove or Gallinari as potential trade targets for Portland, but the guy I think they should trade for is Aaron Gordon. He simply does not fit in Orlando and his career is going nowhere fast in Orlando.

Something like Bazemore and Simons for Gordon should get it done.

AI averaged 26.4 PPG as a Nugget in 2007-2008 at age 33. His career pretty much ended the next season when he was traded to the Pistons. Bizarre.

Blazers lost to the Cavs, who were on a back to back, tonight. Not pretty. Melo went 0-8 from 3. Some of the statements imply that Melo signed with the Blazers under the assurance he would start, if true that doesn’t bode well for him having a new, humbled perspective.

Carmelo is not Howard. A shame, he will be cut if he keeps playing like this.

The thought of Dwight being a role model for humility would have been ludicrous last year.

I know, but it seems that Howard realized what his role is now but Carmelo didn't, even with a year out of the league.

Howard always had the ability to be a fantastic defender/rebounder if he bought into it and wanted to be a team player. People just didn’t think he would do that. With Melo, even if his attitude is great, you don’t bring him in to defend and there are a lot more questions about whether he could help his team even if he is an intelligent team guy.
