Back-to-Back W’s ... What a difference a season can make.

Last year, we would have been relaxing against the Suns and saving the intensity for the Warriors. Those roles have reversed rather dramatically this season.

The Lakers rested AD and Rondo with the Warriors in town tonight and slid Kuzma into the starting lineup, then rolled out the ball.

They pushed the leads into the 20-point range and the intensity would wane on occasion. Eventually, they extended that lead in the fourth quarter, and Vogel could leave LeBron on the bench for a short night. Rest for AD, low minutes for LeBron. That’s what you want.

The Lakers improved their record to 9-2 and start another streak with their second in a row with the easy 120-94 win.

LeBron -- -- He had the perimeter shot going early, so the Warriors were in trouble in that first quarter. He settled a bit too much for the jumpers, though, and clanked away from the perimeter at the end of the first half. He’d finish the first half with 19 points on 9-16 shooting (1-5 from three) and 6 assists. LeBron hit his 11 assist season average by the 6-minute mark of the third quarter. He and Kuzma were able to explore some of that chemistry again tonight. LeBron found him a couple times on the break. Vogel could sit back in the fourth and watch how the game went before deciding whether to bring LeBron back. As the lead ballooned in the fourth quarter, they could ice LeBron for the rest of the game. That’s what we want to see more of in this stretch of games. The Stats: He scored 23 points on 11-21 shooting (1-5 from three, 0-1 from the line) to go with 6 boards, 12 assists, 1 steal, 1 bock, 4 turnovers and 1 foul in 26 minutes. He was a +13.

Kuzma -- -- While I think Rondo will help Kuzma tremendously and did last game, I really believe Kuzma was warming up prior to that but got slowed down by those junk zone defenses that threw a curveball into the process. Tonight, he didn’t have Rondo and was still able to play his game. He had 9 points in the first half on 4-5 shooting, making his only three. He had one of the highlights of the first half when he changed ends with speed and LeBron hit him with a full-court pass right at the rim for the catch and layup while in the air. He said he's got his wind back and you can see it with how fast he's changing ends again. The three ball looked very nice again, high arch, good balance, legs there. It’s looked like money lately. I was surprised when he missed an open one late in the game. Nothing looked forced tonight. Those first few games, he was out of sync timing and flow wise, but with AD resting, he filled that second scorer role tonight. "Just playing more basketball, that's all," he said. The Stats: He scored 22 points on 7-12 shooting (3-6 from three, 5-6 from the line) to go with 5 boards, 2 assists, 4 turnovers and 4 fouls in 30 minutes. He was a +21.

Green -- -- He had an awful sequence in the second quarter where his inbounds pass was swiped and taken the distance for a layup. He then inbounded again under our hoop right to a Warrior and we gave up a three. A momentum-killing 5-point stretch that forced us to call a timeout. The Lakers were looking to try to push out to a big lead, instead they had to rebuild it and gave the Warriors some hope. He sank a couple of threes for his points. Defensively, he got beat off the dribble to set up a dunk and also missed a rotation for another. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 2-2 shooting (2-2 from three) to go with 1 rebound, 1 steal, 2 turnovers and 1 foul in 19 minutes. He was a +7.

Bradley -- -- The Warriors broke up the horns stagger screen sequence in the first half on a couple sequences, although Bradley would still score on one of those possessions. Much quieter night. He had some nice changes of pace on the dribble to break his defender down and get into the lane, but an easier effort needed in this one. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 2-5 shooting (0-1 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 1 board, 2 assists, 2 turnovers and 3 fouls in 24 minutes. He was a +12.

McGee -- -- The +/- tonight was ridiculous (+30). Our length killed the Warriors in preseason. Even without AD out there, our bigs still dominated the interior. He’ll be in one of the highlight plays of the night, keeping an offensive board alive, tracking it down and then finding LeBron backdoor for a soaring jam. McGee looked off the defender and hit him with the bounce pass. Some good passing moments from our bigs tonight. Dwight also hit a cutting LeBron over the top of the D for a layup. Our C spot had 5 assists in the first half. “I feel like we’ve both been playing at an elite level with the minutes that we’ve been given,” McGee said. McGee was sucking wind quite a bit with under 5 minutes into the first half. He stayed out there and played an extended third quarter stint. Then, we had to bring him back when Dwight got into foul trouble. So he got to work on the lungs tonight. Lots of dunks as we put pressure on the rim. He was crashing the glass and dominating. Got to love playing the Warriors. Look at these huge numbers The Stats: He scored 18 points on 8-12 shooting (2-2 from the line) to go with 17 boards (5 offensive), 2 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks, 2 turnovers and 2 fouls in 27 minutes. He was a +30.

Howard -- -- He’s been looking much more spry lately. A lot more bounce than we saw in preseason, but also it looks like a lot more spring in his legs than in the past couple of season when he saw action. The Laker bigs were dominant. Look at the combined numbers between Dwight and McGee: 33 points on 13-19 shooting, 25 rebounds (8 offensive), 5 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks. “Those guys are supposed to be role players on our team,” Vogel said. Some domination tonight. It seemed like Kerr called at least a couple of timeouts related to Dwight beasting in some fashion. Quick props also for the work at the line, going 5-6. The Stats: He scored 15 points on 5-7 shooting (5-6 from the line) to go with 8 boards (3 offensive), 1 block, 3 turnovers and 5 fouls in 20 minutes. He was a -4.

Caruso -- -- You need guys like Caruso out there with your vets. He’s hungry and won’t take nights off. When no one wants to hustle for those 50-50 balls or hit the floor, he’s doing it. His energy fits perfectly with superstars who do a lot of the heavy lifting offensively. Like we did when Rondo was out, we made sure Caruso was in whenever LeBron sat. But they also played them together tonight. Those two have chemistry. We talk a lot about the stuff that doesn’t get reflected in the stat sheet with AC. One of those is his screen setting. He had a huge one last night that led to a Kuzma three where Caruso took out two defenders. The chemistry with LeBron showed up when he put a beauty of a screen on LeBron’s man after inbounding the ball to him tonight. Caruso just stepped inbounds, backed up own man, Russell, right in LeBron’s man, which screened him to open the baseline up. LeBron attacked it and found Dwight for the dunk. That got Kerr off the bench to call timeout, but a damn smart play by AC again taking out two defenders. While the team’s intensity came and went during the game, AC was hustling all night. He was beating people to 50-50 balls, getting into the passing lanes for steals, busting plays by fighting over screens. Good stuff again. The Stats: He scored 8 points on 3-7 shooting (1-2 from three, 1-1 from the line) to go with 6 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal and no fouls in 27 minutes. He was a +15.

Caldwell-Pope -- -- The finishing in this game went from great to awful as the game went along. He threw down a nice dunk filling a lane in transition early. That’s how you finish. (I’d really like to see more of that athleticism from him. We had set up some lob plays for him early in the season but went away from that.) Later in the first half, he’d also slice through a couple defenders at the rim for a high-flying finger roll. Then, he’d wedge a lefty layup finish into the rim. He’d miss another layup to hard off the glass. In the fourth, he choked another, then twisted his ankle on the landing to add injury to insult. Looked minor. Probably hurt more because he blew that breakaway layup. He did have a nice steal and dunk in that second half, but I’m starting to feel a little bad for him. But the bank account looks good, so he’s doing just fine. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 3-9 shooting (0-1 from three) to go with 3 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 foul in 19 minutes. He was a +14.

Cook -- -- With Rondo out, it appears Daniels is the guy out of the rotation right now. Cook got 24 minutes. His shot wasn’t quite there, but he did that guard work getting into the paint for scores or breaking down the D and then dropping bounce passes off to guys like McGee for the easy dunks. When we can get that dribble penetration against smaller teams, it’s just death. If we miss the finish, our bigs clean it up. The Stats: He scored 10 points on 5-11 shooting (0-1 from three) to go with 1 board, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover and no fouls in 24 minutes. He was a +14.

Dudley -- -- We sat AD to heal up and that meant the PF minutes needed some warm bodies. He got in early, though, when Kuzma got popped in the nose with an elbow and had to sit and stop bleeding. Good first quarter stint with a couple of threes and some nice extra passes to keep the ball moving. Defensively, mostly good stuff. He had a nice breakup of a lob on the break to prevent an easy score. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 2-3 shooting (2-2 from three) to go with 3 boards, 4 assists, 1 block, 1 turnover and 1 foul in 23 minutes. He was a +8.

Vogel -- -- The Lakers started off 7-9 from the floor but only led by 2 points when the timeout came. High scoring first few minutes… Caruso in for Green after 7 minutes, Lakers up 9… They forced a timeout up 29-15… Bradley sat with a couple fouls. LeBron out, as well… So Dwight, Dudley, Caruso, KCP, Cook up 11… Kuzma in up 12 with 1:18 for Dudley, who played good minutes… The Lakers led 38-26 after the first quarter… They maintained the lead, a lot of good ball movement while LeBron sat. He returned up 14 for Caruso… Green threw two inbounds passes away that quickly led to 5 points in about 5 seconds. Vogel called a timeout with the lead down to 10. I might have benched him there to get his head (and the team’s) in the game. We followed that up with back-to-back turnovers and only led by 7, so no message sent in that timeout… The Lakers led 67-55 at the half, getting 19 assists in the first half… Lakers started to pick on Russell on D… Dunk for McGee on an ATO… Dudley in for Kuzma midway through the quarter… Vogel had to burn a timeout after a no call that led to a Warriors three, then another timeout on a challenge a possession later. He won the challenge on that one, but was just annoyed at this point. We had an offensive foul on the ATO to blow that possession… Dwight in for McGee at the 3:20 mark. Long stint for McGee. Lakers up 20… They extended to 23 points then relaxed and Vogel called a timeout with 1:54 left up by 16… Howard, Dudley, Caruso, KCP, Cook lineup… The Lakers led 98-82 heading into the fourth… Howard, Dudley, Caruso, KCP, Cook lineup again to start… Up 17 with 8 minutes left when Dwight sat with 5 fouls for McGee and Kuzma returned for Dudley… They stretched out to a big lead… The Lakers finished with 31 assists, but 19 turnovers…

Thanks DB.

I am glad Bron was able to rest. The Lakers need to make sure no one is overworked during the regular season.

Thanks DB! Caught random parts of this one, for some reason most of what I caught involved Dudley making 3s or getting assists

Hoping Lakers rack up the W's in November - that December schedule could be pretty brutal.

Thanks DB! I enjoyed seeing a blowout this time. AD gets rest, LeBron gets a nice light workout, the rest of the team takes care of business.

Best stat of the night for me?

Lebron played 26 min
AD rested

That is what we need. A lot of games like these where one of them sits, other one carries the team in a light night. We should try to get a few Ws like this against some of the weaker teams in the league, at home.

The Lakers offense has began to explode the last few games. Seems we are using speed and some new stuff to the offense and it has started to click. Lakers began the season playing a lot slower on offense in terms of what to do and recognizing what sets to run. Now it seems they get into their sets much quicker, unless it is deliberate to run down clock in the 4th Q.

Lakers O rating has gone up to 11th in the league, and the D rating is #1. They have to keep finding ways to execute on offense better. Rondo will come in and add some QB plays. Kuzma is playing like a 3rd option the last few games. We have some serious firepower, and teams are struggling to contain us inside the paint.

9-2 is a bit better than I thought they would be. Through elite D they have won games struggling on O. Now the O is starting to develop. If we can AD healthier and Rondo involved to have a QB out there at all times (and to (bleep) Lebron to an attack scoring mode sometimes) that will make our offense go to another level.

As I have said before, LeBron is clearly on a mission after last season.

There are many great players in the league, but it is pretty obvious to me he is still right in the conversation as the best of all of them.

He has been nothing short of amazing this season.
