I have told football friends this for a while now ... Goff will never lead the Rams to a SB

At least they try to be competitive

I think the next wave/change in the NFL is to only pay and commit to legit franchise QB's. For some reason over the last decade, teams have began to significantly overpay mediocre young QB's...and I suspect this last waive of Goff, Wentz (and eventually Prescott) will cause teams top change their approach.

Wentz is far superior to Goff.

Jerry you noticed hasn’t paid Dak, Mariota might make sense in Dallas

I was saying that years ago during the draft. Wentz was a legit top prospect in my mind, Goff more of a late first round selection. Wentz had all the tools and was the better processor. He also had a helluva upward trajectory.

Goff might be a late bloomer in terms of processing the game, but I think that he's struggling with it after being exposed in the Super Bowl. A QB needs confidence, and that might be taking a dive right now. While he wrestles with processing and confidence, McVay will probably cut back on the passing game, giving Goff time to figure it out.

The Rams have some upcoming talent problems. All teams need draft picks for three reasons:

1. Shore up weakness
2. Replace players who are wearing down
3. Keep cheap, below market contracts on the books

Number 3 is very important. If you have problems in the draft (everyone does, it is just a matter of degree) you have to cover by signing free agents. If you lack the cap space, your free agent signings are less likely to cover your weaknesses. The Rams have a large amount of money committed to a handful of players, and soon that Jalen Ramsey will be added to that commitment pot. And there will be less first round picks that can help out with that talent to cheap contract ratio.

You make some good points. As to Wentz v Goff, from what little I saw, I could not really tell the difference in their athleticism, accuracy, and arm strength, and even now I don't know if there is much difference. But, when on Gruden's show, Goff did not articulate his understanding of the game nearly as well as did Wentz, nor did he appear to have the leadership qualities one typically finds in a top tier quarterback. I accepted that the Ram's brass knew more more than I did, as they certainly had far more opportunity to talk with him and watch him in action, but it certainly appears their informed judgement was lacking.

One can argue that with a good line, Goff might be at or near being a top ten quarterback, but then this can be said of most QB's.

Ram offense is soft. Goff and Gurley are both SOFT mentally. and you just can't win big games with those as your main offensive weapons.

All hands on deck. We've got to win these next two games against the Falcons and Bengals so we can go into the bye week 5-3.

Not sure where you're getting that from. I'm critical of both these dudes... but we got to the SB last year on these 2 guy's backs.

If he is hurt, it doesn't make sense to play him....only the team knows.

They gotta use him more as a receiver out of the back field.

Hilarious - We had that fumble, but didn't get it bc two Rams were fighting over it. Only other teams recover fumbles against us.

What a stupid end to the half - you know time will run out if you throw to the middle of the field. Why not try for another possession and see if you can get it to the sidelines?

Man, is it nice to get 7's, instead of 3's or 0's.

It looked to me like Gurley was in.

Not gonna lie...with our bad luck with injuries this year, I would start thinking of emptying the bench.

So nice to see the other team's OL crumbling for a change.

Nice job by the O to eat up the clock. Eight minutes time of possession.

Matt Ryan is going to have nightmares about the Rams defense.
Falcons finally get a TD late in the 4th quarter.

And an exclamation point to finish off the frustration of 3 consecutive losses for the Rams.
