I will say in KCP's defense, he was the teams best free throw shooter - by a lot last season. In a day and age when many Lakers act like they are going to get slapped in the face, if they do make a free throw, I give KCP props for bucking the trend. Though a few years ago, our best free throw shooter was Clarkson, so maybe its a idiot savant thing, where a player is dumb in BBIQ, but can actually man up and make free throws above 80%. Sort of like Rainman being good at mathematics , but maybe you don't want to trust him with anything else....

Maybe poor play (especially shooting) is tied to Lakers salary structure - Guys like KCP, Rondo, and in years past, Ball, Ingram, Randle; all making $8-12 million a year, all poor perimeter shooters. Hopefully Green will not forget how to shoot, because we need at least one of these high-earners to stop biting the weenie, and actually make baskets at a high percentage rate.

Do I ask too much?

I think KCP would receive less scrutiny if he was paid his FMV, which is probably around 5m/year. But he received 18/12/8m (IIRC) the past 3 years and has come nowhere near performing at that range. He also is the butt of Lakers' fans jokes about how he was the downpayment for LBJ/AD.

Pistons were fortunate he foolishly turned down that 80m deal.

Yeah good for them but not so much for us.

Ugh. One sequence. Blocked twice by Steph. Then a 3 ball air ball. 38m down payment on LBJ and AD.

Just awful
I can’t wait until Kuzma is back so we don’t need a shot creator as bad on the second unit so we could go with Cook or Daniels instead.

KCP is OOC.

What’s up with some of the isolations too? Does he think he’s the #1 option out there when LBJ and AD are out?

Brian Grant
Andrew Bynum
Gary Payton
Derek Fisher
Dennis Rodman

I've got a couple I have ahead of him, but I'm sure KCP will move up the list...

Derek Fisher? Really? He’s had some bad moments after his retirement, but he was nails for us for our ring runs.

And Bynum was integral to beating the Celtics.

D Fish was great fit with Shaq and Kobe. Had clutch DNA. Time after time hit massive shots. Was he the best he’ll no but clutch when we needed him. Very steady

After having to endure Chucky Atkins and Smush Parker as our point guards for 3 years, I learned to have a greater appreciation for DFish during his 2nd stint with the Lakers.

Another up & down affair for KCP. His defense was solid but his offensive game is too helter-skelter even though he shot well at times.

I was shocked when I saw him closing out on a 3 point shooter, and he stayed balanced and in front of the shooter instead of jumping passed the shooter and leaving his team in a 5 on 4 situation. Progress I guess.

We dare to hope
KCP's offense is so erratic that when he doesn't play smart defense consistently it hurts the team.

KCP is a monster when games don’t matter. Like today’s final preseason game.

Hopefully he can contribute when it matters this season.

If i saw KCP play like this consistently, I wouldn't be pissed. But his good performance today is pissing me off because I know we won't see it again until mid December.
