What do you guys think will happen if it does get cancelled, will they re-locate the games in Brooklyn or LA?

It would really suck to have the team fly there for nothing (they already left). Some of the worst jet lag I’ve ever had was coming back from Hong Kong.

This x100

What is their government going to do next ban all nba games from viewing in China?

Seriously how can the people of China live in silent? Why don't they start a revolution to overthrow these (bleep)?

If the Shanghai game is cancelled, they should return asap to allow their bodies to reacclimate rather than wait in limbo for any longer than they have to.

But right now I'd like to see them stick it out as a sign of goodwill and see if Silver and his crew can smooth things over.

why would they? China is not Syria or Iraq, as long as they get their money, their people doesn't give a (bleep) about freedom of speech. i've been to China many times, and let's just say life over there isn't half bad.

I think it's the other way around, most people in china who watches NBA (I would say 45% lakers fan, 50% rockets fan, 5% other) are furious about this. They would start a revolution if the gov/media caved in to NBA and pretended all is well after this.

I find it funny as Morey out of all people started this. Is it really a coincident? I bet no one would care had Sterling or Danny Ferry tweeted about this

Then just watch LeBron rent out a private sports club facility -- whether in China or Macau or the Philippines or wherever - for a friendly pickup game with the Nets and invite international cameras in. LeBron has an enormous international following and he could conceivably pull this off.

Granted, he wouldn't and shouldn't have to do something like this, but it wouldn't be an entirely crazy idea.

What you do not understand is that most of the people in China are probably furious with Morey and the Rockets right now. In fact, all the companies that partnered with the Rockets need to distance themselves from the Rockets so it does not hurt their brand.

What most Americans do not see is a video of a mainland Chinese investment banker from JP Morgan being beaten by the protesters simply because he argued with them saying they are all chinese. That video has gone viral in China and I would not be surprised the people in China would demand that the protesters are punished.

I hope they do cancel it. I don't like how China is trying to export it's authoritarian crackdown on free-speech over here to the US. What an over the top overreaction by the communist regime over there.

I think Morey will be fired to appease Chinese government. I don’t see any other path.

Highly unlikely.
If the NBA plays those games in Japan, it would be another slap in the face to China due to historical issues between Japan and China.

As much as the Rockets like to fire Morey, they cannot without incurring the wraith of politicians in the US from both parties that waiting to pounce for more press coverage.

They should relocate those games to Manila.
