However, I wouldn't be surprised if Zo isn't/gets traded... Their rookie is really good and the Pelicans got to many guards.

I wouldn't either. That's the problem with being a young player on a bad team. Your replacement could be coming in the next draft unless you're a standout. If that replacement is drafted high enough he's going to get minutes because everyone wants to see him play. If you play the same position those minutes will come out of your time. If he's good enough they'll trade you to fill another team need.

Should be interesting to see if the Pels will pay BI $28-29m/year when he is a RFA.

I like Ingram but paying him 25+ mil is how you end up in purgatory as a 37-42 win team

He needs to show improvement from 3, be a bit less ball dominant, and show health.

I will miss his defensive versatility. We really could use someone like him on the team for defense.

I doubt that a contract like that will be a detriment to the Pelican’s cap. They aren’t going to be signing a max player and having Ingram on a contract like that would be a good potential trade asset.

You have to wonder if ESPN makes the same decision if his son was still in the same market. From an off the court perspective (which may help on the court play psychologically as well), being traded to New Orleans may be great for Zo. May shut up his dad and quiet the outside noise that LA brings so he can just focus on basketball.

Maybe if the Pelicans didn't draft Zion. Because of that the Pels will have a national media following this season. Even if ESPN won't follow him there will be other media there who will want Lavar soundbites. Regardless of what people think about his opinions he draws interest.

You click on Lonzo's ESPN player profile and the first embedded video is of his dad.

Good question, the all-star label prob got him that extra $9mil (or that GS didn't have any other play to get asset), he was prob seen something of Brogdon value

Tobias Harris got 5/180 and he's never been an allstar while constantly bouncing around the league.

Jamal Murray also got a 5/170 extension as well and he's no allstar while playing worse than DLO.

Brogdon's contract value is understated since it also included picks to prevent the bucks from matching.

While the all star status pretty much cemented it, the chances would have still been high given DLO led the nets to a 6th seed and over .500 record.

The common thread among those players is they were integral pieces of winning teams. Randle had as good of a season statistically as any of those guys and better than Ingram but the Pels didn't make much of an effort to keep him and he ended up settling for a two year deal with only $4 million of the third year guaranteed.

BI should have plenty of opportunities to showcase his "ceiling". It doesn't look he'll have much competition at his position. Hopefully, he can stay healthy.

So apparently lonzo has more songs on spotify (21) than made FT's last year (20)

To put it in another perspective: Dwight howard played 9 games last year and still hit 9 more FT's compared to lonzo.

he's entering his 4th season and people are still talking about his "ceiling"? LOL, i have not seen any improvement in his game besides increasing of playing time. same can be said for Lonzo, who's entering his 3rd season.

People are talking about Kuzma’s “ceiling” despite him being older than both DLO and Ball.

I like Jrue but I'd say he should be the trade bait instead. He's already 29 so he doesnt fit the age range of the other players and Ball has to have value for a team with Zion as a rare young floor general who will make sure Zion gets his touches.

I don't wish anything bad upon Zo, in fact here's hoping he improves his FT%, his 3pt%, his FG% while reducing his turnovers and time missed due to injuries..

If he can't he won't be offered any big money contracts after his initial rookie contract expires and will either become a lifetime journeymen or driver of the Melo Bus...

Asked if he knew he was going to be traded, Ball said, "No, I found out on Twitter."

"We was in the car. We had just left my grandfather's house on the way to (brother LaMelo's) Drew League game," Ball continued. "That's how we found out. ... I don't know everybody's situation, but that's how we all found out."

Ball also reiterated that he and teammates Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart expected to be traded after being regulars in the rumor mill over the last two years. But despite expecting it, Ball said he took it personally when the Lakers traded him.

"I think you should," Ball said. "I mean, like, they got rid of you. They don't want you no more, so you got to take it personal."
