Did the Lakers get damaged goods from the Pistons. He just had a operation on his back and the Knicks revised his contract way down. His play was really bad and maybe the bad back was the reason.

Remember the days when trades got nullified because a guy didn't pass a physical? Have they just done away with that? Someone said Ingram and Lonzo didn't take physicals which I thought was crazy.

Neither trade was any good - last moment heaves from Pelinka and Magic to try and get LBJ some shooters to make a playoff run. Didn't work. Hindsight though, Svi I don't think will be a significant player on a roster like we have now. And as far as Zubac, no way we were re-signing him. He was going to be let go because at that price, Lakers were not gonna try to keep him.

Agree about Svi having a low ceiling but the point is he would've done more for us than a broken Bullock. So we basically just gave him away for free and even lost a pick for a guy who hid an injury. Watch Bullock start knocking down 3's like Steph again now that his back is fixed.

I understand trading Zubac for financial reasons but not for garbage like Muscala. We should've gotten a pick back in that trade. Magic undervalued Zubac. We're fine at the center position but we desperately need picks right now.

I trust our scouting department to find gems late in the draft. They've earned that trust from me. If we had this scout team during the Shaq/Kobe era then that dynasty would've lasted longer imo. We can't just let our stars wither away without surrounding them with youth. That's how Pop extended the Duncan/Manu/TP era.

I think we would have traded Svi out anyways to squeeze out a 32m max slot.

I thought the trade for Bullock was sensible as he had a sterling reputation as a 3 point shooter.

I dont think Svi would be a big contributor to the LBJ led Lakers, but he would definitely be a good fit around AD post LBJ. He needs a little development and time to adjust to the speed of the NBA and then I think he can eventually be a knock down shooter. Probably what everyone hoped KCP had developed into. I would have liked the Lakers to have kept him, as his handles and decent athleticism were an added bonus. I know the Pistons are very high on him.

Was at summer league quartet finals last weekend and was watching him a lot. He had a good break ankles side step 3 point shot but that was it. Had 5 Pts for the game I think.

With Bullock gone the Eddie Jones trade chain is finally finished. One of my favourite Laker sub-plots, the trade that kept on giving.

Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell for Glen Rice. Eventually Rice was traded to NY in 4 team trade that netted us Horace Grant for the title defense in 2001.

Whatever subplot you're talking about is probably at best, a reach. But please do elaborate.

Room Exception according to Spotrac (2yr/$8.2 million) so I guess he lost almost $13 million as his original contract was reportedly 2yr/$21 million.

Now I'm reading he's out indefinitely following surgery.

This actually piqued my interest so I did a little digging. I'm leaving out some of the side details of each deal but here is how I would summarize it.

Eddie Jones-> Glen Rice -> Lindsey Hunter -> Draft rights of 2009 2nd rd. pick (Pat Beverley) -> Draft rights of 2011 2nd rd. pick Ater Matok -> Jose Calderon and the pick that would become Svi.

I think the whole chain is this: Eddie Jones -> Glen Rice-> Greg Foster->Lindsey Hunter->Kareem Rush->Patrick Beverley->Ater Majok->Svi.
