Won't forget the SL championship and how he balled out in his second NBA game. It's those kind of moments that reverberate the most.

If he resolves his injury situation, he'll be a fine player for the Pelicans.

That championship was so much fun to watch. He and Kuz really showed out. Lonzo is going to shine with Zion and Jrue. That backcourt is going to be a defensive nightmare to deal with. I will be watching that team on League Pass this year.

No more Lavar circus is a plus.

I wish the best for Lonzo, Ingram and Hart. Stay healthy.

Welp Lonzo - I honestly never got all the way into him although I did not dislike him either. It’s a tough call - his play certainly did not meet the hype but the Lakers were a mess and he was never healthy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . But I think not having to deal with his dad anymore tips the scale’s for me . So best of luck Lonzo hope you blow up in your new spot and I look forward to not hearing your dad talk anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised honestly.....

They already drafted Frank jackson and have too many guards on their team

How many guys thrive in lower competition but suck in the NBA?

Many of them. Lonzo is not an NBA player.

strongly disagree!!!!

When healthy, Lonzo is one of the best defensive guards in the league. he Can command the offense and split double teams when he drives to the basket. You clown on him because he is not a shooter when it is a shooters league but his defense and floor vision is excellent. Eventually his game will be like a prime Rajon Rondo. Don't forget This team was a 4th seed in the west in December before the injury bug to Zo.

and by using your logic how many guys were mediocre in lower competition but thrive in the NBA. MANY of them. for ex: draymond, deandre J, rodman etc... maybe even add leonard to the list

Lonzo has some elite skills (defense, passing, rebounding for a guard).

But he has some elite weaknesses (shooting in general, FTs, 3 point consistency, etc.).

Much like his game (3s and layups) has not much in between game.

I wouldn't regret losing Lonzo, but Ingram definitely has the most upside out of the 3 and pretty much every young laker outside of Russell.

Definitely gonna miss Zo. My favorite draftee of the tank era. Lose the dad and work on the j and he should be a GREAT player.

Losing DLO for cap space was tough (b/c Brook bailed and...Kuz, really)?

But at least we got AD, an all NBA player who isn't even in his prime. Makes it much easier to swallow.

Very unlikely but I’m hoping he ends up in the purple and gold again. We’re gonna regret trading him if we don’t end up with a ring in the next few years.

And we may lose the cap space for Dlo. loop closed

Interesting that this thread was moved. Lonzo (as well as Ingram and Hart) are still officially Lakers through at least the end of the month while AD isn't officially a Laker yet...

You have to wonder if ESPN makes the same decision if his son was still in the same market. From an off the court perspective (which may help on the court play psychologically as well), being traded to New Orleans may be great for Zo. May shut up his dad and quiet the outside noise that LA brings so he can just focus on basketball.

By far my favorite Lakers draft pick since Eddie Jones and a guy whose unique talents I fully believe in wherever he plays.

Ingram and Jrue both seem like locks in the starting 5 for the Pelicans.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if Zo isn't/gets traded... Their rookie is really good and the Pelicans got to many guards.

On the Jump today they were talking about how New Orleans viewed Lonzo as the centerpiece of the trade and they think he's going to be really good. Nice to see some positive stuff about him.

I disagree with almost everyone in this thread.

It's extremely rare for guys to be mediocre in lower levels and then thrive in the NBA; guys who are mediocre in lower levels don't get a chance in the NBA. Rodman, Jordan, etc. were all stars in colleges. You might be saying they didn't perform great in a couple of summer league games. Don't know if that's true or not, but it's not a great criteria for judging players in my book.

And, yes, it's much more common for guys to perform better at lower levels, where the competition is less, than in the NBA.

That said, the idea that Ball isn't an NBA level player is ridiculous. He might not be an all star but of course he's shown he's goog enough to play in the league.

What's wrong with Kuzma?
