Really funny that you guys accusing Kuzma doing something he didn't do.
Why aren't these guys banned yet? _________________ I was an atheist, until I knew Kobe.

Not gonna lie, I think Kuzma was kept for two reasons:
1) obviously his small contract still allows for max FA signing;
2) if we can’t sign a Max guy bc that player wants a 5 yr deal instead of 4 yr deal, we can trade Kuzma for a S&T for the Mac player. (IE butler may want to be a Laker but wants 5 year max money. He can then sign the deal with Philly and be traded into LAL’s cap space. Philly gets Kuzma for their troubles) _________________ Billions Billions Billions |

Kuz is a decent bench scorer for a championship contender. His rebounding and defense are simply too poor to be anything more. It was disappointing to see his rebounding decline, his three-ball go to (bleep), and his defense barely improve during his sophomore campaign. Would've been nice to have kept either BI or the #4 instead. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Nah I think the Lakers just love Kuz and for good reason. He's got to get better on D and get back cos hooting like he did his rookie year, but they don't want to trade him. I think Jeanie looks and Kuz like our next home grown star ala Kobe and Magic. (Right or wrong) |

I reckon Kuz is bright enough where his flaws were last season. Now that the FO has shown enough faith in him to make him the 'last man standing', I think Kuz will return the faith and improve his shooting and rebounding, at the very least. I would not be surprised to see him average 19ppg and 7rpg on 37%-ish from three next year, depending on whether he's the third or fourth option of course |

Yup. A big reason is his cheap contract |
Plus, you know, he can do things like drop 41 points in just three quarters against a team. |

At the same time he’s capable of allowing opposing players drop 20 points on his head in the first quarter too |

Kuzma-6rpg
Lebron-8rpg
Davis-12rpg
We will be fine, just make sure that whoever we sign next is good on defense, and a good rebounder and thats it. Boxing out can be learned.
Say whatever you want but kuzma is the only one who showed he could play in the big stage and out perform whoever he was facing!!!
There was a point after the 37 point fame vs SA where he was just destroying teams and even running pick and rolls. Kuz is really talented BUT I THINK luke hurted his development.

He needs to continue to work on the D (which improved a bit last year statistically) and get that three ball more consistent. |
He would fit like a glove if he improved in these two areas. I’m glad he’s aware of his weaknesses and went to seek LethalShooter and MWP for shooting and defense, respectively. Team USA training camp will also help him improve. |

Kuzma has been my favorite Laker player the last two years.
Kuzma was kept because of his under two million salary. BI was really only traded because of his seven million salary to help match things up. If Kuzma was exactly in Bi’s salary position, and Bi was the two million dollar player, Kuzma would have been traded.
Of course Kuzma has the better story, better on camera guy, more rah rah team than either BI or Ball. Had some great scoring games, played better with Lebron, less injury missed games, exceeded draft position expectations. To top it off, the only one of the youngsters to play in the youth all star game, invited to Olympic trials.
Kuzma to date has been the better player. Plus Kuzma still has time left to show he can improve before a big payday kicks in. Both teams wanted a Kuzma, and we probably paid extra to keep Kuzma. |

If Kuzma could improve his stats in rebounding, assists, steals and blocks to 2/3 that of Ben Simmons', I'd be happy. |

Kuz is Matt Damon's character in Saving Private Ryan.
They all died for him. Better make it worth it.
I do think he will do well next season with LBJ/AD/3rd max drawing so much attention. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

OK, I've had a couple of days to get my mind right.
You're the only legit one left from our pre-2018 picks.
I'm rooting for you KUZ
Get that shot right. Get that team defense right. Kill it this year! |

Am I the only one that thinks we kept Kuz because the Pels value BI and Zo more than him? |

Seems like multiple things for me.
I believe Lonzo and BI are better prospects due to age.
But they also make more right now.
As a cost per impact, Kuzma is on a high level.
That being said, I think we forget that he was pretty good as a 2nd year player. We seem to focus on his age too much. But he's been improving each year since his freshman year in college. |

Maybe but I also can't help but think we wouldn't have had to give up that extra draft pick if the Pels valued BI and Zo more. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Kuz's lousy defense and regression in 3 pt shooting in his 2nd year were very disappointing. He has a lot to prove this season imo. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Whoever it is that updated the thread to "Recruiting Kawhi?" should see about assisting Woj because that is ridiculously misleading. I read through the entire page all to find out that Kuzma only threw shade at the Spurs and somehow that means he's recruiting Kawhi to come to LA.
