Seems fake.

The first part is a still photo, where you can easily photoshop his head on. The rest of it doesn’t show his face.

That’s not to say he won’t be coach but I am almost certain this is fake.
I would agree except that we've got this tweet last Friday: The Lakers are proceeding toward an offer to Ty Lue in the coming days....

Woj is not on the Lakers best information list. Until it becomes official from the Lakers I won't accept it.
Personally I think it's going to be Lue, but Lakers could still decide to interview Mark Jackson or maybe go with Juwon Howard.

LeBron doesn't deserve to pick the coach for the Lakers. This a such a bad look.

My sincere hope is the we surround Lue with veteran NBA coaches who actually understand the coaching profession and are capable of stepping into the role when the time comes.

I'll wait.

People keep asking this question as if LeBron is 25 years old and entering his prime. No! LeBron is done. If the Lakers were going to make this move for LeBron, it should have been done last Summer, not a full year afterwards when you're trying to attract a 25 year old superstar.

LeBron is past the point in his career where his role on a team dictates that he picks the coach. And before you bring up Kobe... LeBron has no equity with the organization. Kobe was a Lakers Legend when he picked Byron Scott.

The Lakers continue doing stupid and late crap which makes them appear out of touch and desperate. I have no doubt that we can sign Kemba or Vucevic. But our chances of signing a legitimate superstar max level talent has taken a major hit. LeBron is going to start his drama this coming year like he always does. It's his way of poisoning the well and reshaping the narrative. With Lue in charge, there is nothing to be done about it. Nobody signs up for this unless being a Laker is worth more to them than their self respect.

The Lakers have fallen of a cliff.

LeBron is still the best player in the NBA. At worst, he's 4th (KD, Kawhi, Giannis). No reason to believe he won't be a top 5 player for the next 3 years.

Also no reason to believe anyone else currently on this team will be a top 10 player EVER.

I'd take a top 5 player at the end of his career for 3-4 years over 15 years of a player who isn't even top 25.

Gotta stop playing the lottery hoping these "maybes" perform a miracle and become great players...that's not how this works.

What’s more scary is how so many people believe something so obviously fake is real.

Has me very concerned for when we start seeing more deepfakes about real issues.

Same here. Ty Lue did turn 42 years old last Friday, so even though videos can be manipulated with DeepFaceLab / FaceSwap, this is plausible.

These 2 images are the closest thing to his full face that the video shows (note: this is not the still frame at the beginning).

Does that look like Lue to you? LOL

Weak argument.

People act as if Lue was just a robo coach and the Cavs just somehow beat the Warriors in the Finals.

He may not be the best coach in the NBA, but he isn't a chump.

There are only a handful of active head coaches who can boast about having a championship ring as a HC, and only one man on earth right now can boast about beating the Warriors in the Finals as a HC.

Thanks... so it’s real.

But why are they taking so long to announce the deal? Are there contract numbers still being worked out that we aren’t aware of?

Thanks. I ran the imgur vid cap through a forensics algorithm, but there weren’t the usual telltale signs that it was fake so I was still scouring for any additional images until I finally saw tmz’s report.

Assuming it gets finalized today, Cleveland had owed Ty Lue the last year of his contract for next season. Possible that paper work still needs to be completed as they’ll be off the hook when the Laker contract kicks in.

Most likely it will be Lue, but Odom says Lakers should go after Howard.

To be fair, the video itself looks suspicious, it looks like Lue’s head is animated.

I still think it looks very fake, but obviously with TMZ reporting on it, that lends some credibility to it.
