Seems like Mr. Walton can get a head coaching job quite easily, while the likes of Sam Cassell and Juwan Howard have been toiling for years as assistants and never get a break.

I wonder why...

Hmm... apart from the Walton connection, is it also possible that Luke and the GM of the Kings being old teammates on the Lakers together might have something do with it? If it is possible, the "ism" you're looking for is "nepotism" and not the other one.

Btw... toiling? Really now? Toiling?! That's a peculiar choice of words. Peculiar is going to be my "word of the day" thanks to your post in that other Luke thread... I'm going to try and find as many instances in my day today where I can legitimately use it, lol.

Wow, nice statement. Has nothing to do with being white. Maybe read a little on why he got the job so quickly:

1) Kings wanted Luke as a coach since 2016
2) Kings fired their coach this week
3) Luke parted ways with the Lakers
4) Kings wanted Luke as a coach since 2016
5) Kings and Luke had mutual interest
6) Kings made Luke a deal

He could have been black, Chinese, Indian or Mexican, didn't matter. Its who the Kings wanted.

By the way, Vlade is not white, FYI...in case you didn't know.

Serbians are white. Ethnically, genetically and culturally.

The fringe of the White Power movement (OK, the fringe of the fringe) assign a "lesser degree of whiteness" to central Europeans and Slavs from the more southerly portions of Europe, but genetically it is a non-starter.

Ditto Armenians & Persians - geographically, they are Asian, but genetically they are Caucasian.

Yes, in sociology, the term "white ethnic(s)" is used, or the term ethnically white. It's the actual PC-safe term. White as we all understand it to mean Caucasian. He has olive skin and black hair, so do Italians. No one thinks they aren't white.

Armenians and Persians are geographically Asians from the continent borders drawn by europeans couple generations ago

Genetically i'm not sure

Phenotypically they're caucasian... just like South Asians (Indian/Pakistan/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka)

I mean if you believe in 3 major 'race' Mongoloid, Negroid and Caucasoid (outdated terms)

The people of Southern India and Sri Lanka would disagree with you. Anyway, I think you are only partly correct here... because the original inhabitants of the Indian sub-continent (i.e., India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) probably had more in common with people from Madagascar. Both were part of the supercontinent Gondwana before splitting off and drifting away... with the Indian sub-continent then splitting off from Madagascar and colliding with the Eurasian plate. The Indus Valley civilization is thought to have been formed by these peoples and was one of the three earliest civilizations of the world, along with Egpyt and Mesopotamia. The Indian sub-continent has become a mixed bag of peoples over thousands of years though... with subsequent invasions/migrations/conquests by the Aryans, Persians, Turks, Greeks, Arabs, British and Portuguese.

Vlade's probably thinking Joerger wasn't looking so bad in hindsight.

Whether or not it is true, it is a bad look for Luke and pretty awkward for the Kings.

Not to belabor this point, but, I thought that when we, in the US, refer to white, we are essentially referencing those of WASP type origins. (I apologize if that term is derogatory).

Always thought the term was more colloquial than biological.

Think Luke is a great fit for Sac.

I honestly expect them to push for the 8th seed next season

I had high hopes for Luke but didn't see him make an imprint on the players or team culture.

Mermuys lives.

Six weeks after Kings hired Luke Walton, his staff has begun to take shape. Source tells @TheAthleticNBA Walton has added Bob Beyer (formerly OKC), Jesse Mermuys (Lakers), & Canadian coach Roy Rana as assts. Bobby Jackson to be Asst./player development. Likely adding 2-3 more.

No time for mud slinging without the facts. I'm sure Kerr
was just being cautious, as he should be.

Surprised he isn't bringing BShaw with him. I know he was on the Pacers during the Vogel era, but didn't know we were retaining him.

I don’t think we are keeping Shaw. He’s up (bleep) creek atm.

I think he might be kept. He was on Vogel's staff in Indy I believe.

And he was on Luke’s staff in here. Doesn’t mean he sticks. The front office wasn’t a fan of likes staff,.. to me that includes Shaw. I get the feeling the front office is making more of the choices regarding Franks staff.
