So what's Zu averaging on the clippers right now?
20/10? People keep mentioning him. He must be balling. |

He’s looked very mediocre, the only people who keep mentioning him are doing it to *** on Magic and Pelinka, Zubac isn’t really that good if you look at it in retrospect. |

He's averaging 8.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 0.8 blocks on 50% FG and 81% FT.
The point isn't he's looking like an All-Star, but that even with those numbers he's doing more than our current 4 centers on the roster. JaVale is the only one producing those kind of numbers, which is why we should've kept Zu. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

He is, he gives them badly needed rim protection and matched up well with Gobert last night. Much more than Gortat gave them. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

So minimizing Zubac's role is any different? There is a happy medium between All-Star and "he sucks".
No he is not an all-star. But he is having an impact on the court. As he was starting to do with the Lakers before being traded for no particular reason.
Zubac is a developing role player. Was a nice young option as Chandler and McGee have fallen off the cliff this season. Zubac's size and energy in the paint would be useful on the Lakers as those two continue to fade.
McGee and Chandler (or even Muscala) start playing better it will make the memories dim. No paint protection, endless offensive rebounds and dunks make it hard to forget even Zubac's marginal role player impact.
Lets not overlook that the Lakers are so desperate they had to start James at Center because of the lack of production by the current centers. |

From what I read it was more about getting rid of Beas and knowing they weren't going to re-sign Zu. |

Yeah, but it's not like they're resigning Muscala either. Zu actually would provide more help THIS season than Muscala. Surprised they couldn't at least get a second rounder for Zu. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant |

which makes no logical sense....they could simply waive Beasley just as the Clippers did, and Zubac had an extremely small cap hold which is one reason the Clippers wanted him because they could still chase their star FA's then if they choose resign Zubac. |

Why not just release Beasley?
Are they re-signing Muscala?
Despite the necessity to create maximum cap space "for next year" it is arguable that keeping Zubac as a cheap (under $2M hold?) center option next year would have been wise.
Currently all Centers on the roster are expiring. Will need to be replaced or re-signed on the cheap. Zubac may not be an all-star but a capable developing option as depth if nothing else.
No logic to this move other then to make a trade for the sake of making a trade. Just created a bigger problem for this season and next. |

Sounds like Vlade in his early days as GM, someone should let them know that they could have waived Beasley.
More than likely they realized that they haven’t brought in enough 3 point shooting and were trying to rectify that. That certainly makes more sense. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I found an old 2017 yahoo article indicating that tomorrow is the last day a player can be waived to be playoff eligible (even if he is signed after tomorrow, March 1).
Quote: | March 1 is the last day a player can be waived and still be eligible to play in the postseason, so playoff teams like Cleveland and Houston will be monitoring the waiver wire.
A player can sign with a team after March 1 and still be eligible for the playoffs as long as he was waived by that date.
Players signed to a 10-day contract such as the Hornets’ Briante Weber, are playoff-eligible even if the contract expires after March 1 and Charlotte elects not to sign him to a second 10-day deal.
Weber would retain playoff eligibility because he would not go through the waiver process. |

I also looked it up today....appears a player is eligible for the playoffs as long as he is on your roster on April 12th, and was waived on or before March 1st. Makes sense because I recall the Cavs adding Perkins last year on the day before playoffs started. |

It looks like the hope is Gortat or DeAndre Jordan.
And last option is Randolph. |

DeAndre Jordan was out for the 3rd straight game with claim of sore ankle. The way Mitchell Robinson has emerged, any chance the Knicks waive Jordan tomorrow? |

Man, 70% FT shooting DeAndre in the paint plus Lonzo pressuring the on ball, we can funnel everything inside like the start of the season. We be pretty good |

If Jordan shakes loose, wouldn’t he head to Houston? He’s from there, is bff with Chris Paul, and the Rockets have a shot at a deep playoff run. Here he might not even make the playoffs. |

Yeah, guys have grown smarter in the buyout market recently. Before it was basically about ring chasing, now they're signing into situations that can lead to better contracts. It is also because now buyouts are more dynamic and better players do it, before it was basically older guys.
That being said, when you look at all the teams that are likely to make out of the first round in the playoffs, none of them have minutes for Jordan. Even some that are considered first round outs don't either.
For him, it's better to grind out in NYC to stat pad and get his stock up, where he can also end up as the center in a super team with KD + Kyrie + Zion if everything goes according to plan. If not, it is also a place where they'd be happy to give him a good new deal with all that cap space (specially because they're counting on him to help recruit those guys). _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

Knicks tanking, might not wanna play him at all. They didn’t even wanna play kanter. What time is the deadline? DJ would be a big boost to Lakers D |

They're playing him 26 mpg, can't see a reason why they would stop doing so (even with the tanking).
And with our other centers on the roster and Luke's small ball fixation, I'm not sure he'd get those minutes with us. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com
