For the FO, you know that they will stop at no ends to make sure they make the playoffs.
It would be such a crushing indictment to sign LBJ and miss the playoffs.
We would not doubt be destroyed by the Warriors, but I feel like we have to make the playoffs over getting a 14th pick in a not very deep draft. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Going to the playoffs ALWAYS matters.
Steph Curry or Durant sprains an ankle, miss 2 or 3 games and all of a sudden we have a chance to win.
That's why the games are played. |

And even if none of that happens, and we get swept in the first round, it's invaluable experience to those that haven't been.
Although I wouldn't put money on us making the playoffs, that should absolutely be this years goal. |

If the Lakers don't make the playoffs, and they were to hit the lotto (has happened before), who has any confidence someone like Zion would spend a single day in a Lakers jersey?
Would be another LeGM sacrifice, no? |
If they were in the lottery they’d have a 12-14
Pick. Like a 2 percent shot of picking 1. Let’s talk about realistic scenarios. |
Still higher then beating GSW. |
I disagree.
And even should the Lakers lose their first round matchup, it's valuable experience.
Nobody wants to join a team that's stays lotto year in and year out. Free agents will still want to join LeBron if there's a chance he still can get a title. Not making the playoffs would be a strong signal he's finished, stay away from the Lakers.
But yeah, there's a 2 percent chance we get 6 foot 7 inch Zion, so he can play good NBA ball in 4 years. |

I really think clippers fall out of the playoffs. I know they've won games coming off the trade deadline but their roster isn't constructed in a way to keep that going. And they NEED to keep their pick this season to get their or dream FA plus trades, so I think they'll make sure to drop out.
All Lakers need to do is get in ahead of Sacramento. Playoff experience is still playoff experience. Our kids need it _________________ #countonkobe |

Kinda want to make the playoffs and kinda want to tank the rest of the season and add a nice prospect to the roster. |

Don't folks want to see how our YUTES would do in a playoff setting?
That's invaluable either way, though if they fail spectacularly, that's a risk. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I definitely want to make the playoffs, but for the first time I'm beginning to doubt it will happen. |

I think there's value in making the playoffs, even if it's getting trashed by the Warriors, but with missing the playoffs looking like a possibility, I'm also mentally preparing myself for that and potential best case scenarios associated with it. Specifically, getting lucky as hell and winning the lotto. |

Hate to be pessimistic here, but I don't think we'll make the playoffs this year.
We had a great opportunity to get ahead a few games, but when LBJ went down, that was pretty much the season.
If we were in the East, it'd be a different story, but out West, you can't fall too far behind, teams covet those final two spots and know their significance.
Obviously, the Lakers didn't... |

It will be a bummer if we miss the playoffs, but I wouldn't say it's some huge indictment of the FO....we lost LeBron, Ball and Rondo for significant amounts of the season, Bron being the biggest loss for what like 17 games?
The only thing the FO can really be taken to task for is not landing a second FA last summer, but we all knew that was the case for a long time now.
If the following doesn't happen then I think the FO can be thought of as failing:
1) Lakers MUST get a second star this summer
2) The FO has to ensure that both BI and Ball work extensively on their shooting and free throw shooting
3) Ball has to really further develop his fitness he is losing to much time to injury each season
Other things the FO should consider like coaching and other types of players but the above 3 are the most critical |

This team with No playoff is a failure, FO or coach or the players... all |

It's up to Lebron. If we don't make the playoffs, then that's enough excuse to fire Luke and sacrifice the entire team to bring in a Robin to Lebron's Batman. Lebron already tanked the last game. I'm thinking he'll sink this Laker ship to get things done. His passive/aggressive low-level manipulations are in full stride. |

I am not saying we should tank, I just say the objective should be 7th seed. Getting killed by GSW would be for me as a big of a failure as missing the playoffs. |

Really? So he lowers his chances to find a partner, starts discussion about being washed up, etc.. just to get Luke fired??? Did you put much thought into it? |

It’s over. Space jam 2. The barbershop show etc is why Lebron signed here. He isn’t engaged with his teammates, zero effort on defense. Horribly constructed roster. Time for him to sit the rest of the year. Season is over. Just a matter of what pick we get as usual |

Since Jerry West have left, we haven’t made any great moves.
Even Pau Gasol trade, it was probably made possible by Jerry.
I think this franchise might become second fiddle to the clippers, and it might happen sooner than I imagined, with Magic, (Jeanie not firing Luke, and obviously she doesn’t even watch basketball) and Lebron taking us to the ground and into a circus show.
I know it is hard to imagine, even a die hard lakers fan like me can not fathom myself cheering for clippers even though they are a local team.
But if anyone can do it, it would be Jerry West, if he is able to sign 2 max free agents this summer, Kwahi and KD or Kyrie. (It’s more likely this will happen than us signing any of them)
Now before you call me a fake lakers fan or bandwagoner.
I am not saying I want to be a clipper fan.
But just imagine 3-5 years down the road, when Lakers is completely gutted by Lebron and Magic and turn into a freak show.
While Jerry West has turn the clippers completely around into a respectable franchise with multiple superstars and an championship contender.
Are you going to tell me that you won’t cheer for the clippers? |
