5 years of sucking, with no All-Star talent to show for on the current roster. I'd settle for mediocrity for the 8th seed than tanking for multiple years again. That 5 year no playoffs run post-Kobe achilles was traumatizing. If your a young player, Lakers are not a good spot to play in unless your a generational talent. You have like a few months or your rookie season "to show it", i.e. Magic, Kobe-like, etc. or your considered and labelled a bum like Russell, Ingram, etc. by Lakers fans and NBA fans and don't get the patience like every other franchise for a player to develop.

How has sticking with young talent worked for the Orlando Magic and Suns in recent years?

You mean the team that went through an injured opponent in every round to a title in 15? A team that blew the biggest finals lead in history and needed to add a top 3 player to that roster? Lmao. You tried.

What a horrible thread. Losers mentality. I guess four years of this (bleep) isn't enough for some of you. It's playoffs or bust this year. We might fall short but rooting for the team to lose is pathetic.

I agree this thread must be locked! This team is not a tank team as LBJ will be back and that will never happen. Even if they don't make the playoffs our 1st round pick is trash.

Now is even more reason than ever to tank. The Pelicans are too stubborn to trade AD before the deadline and will hate to trade with us because of the Lebron-Rich Paul connection. A key to making this trade happen is having a valuable 2019 draft pick.

Watching some of the game last night, this team really reminds me of our previous tanking teams. It's nearly to the point where I basically expect losses and only kind of half-watch games, have them on in the background.

I think all we need to do to continue the tank rolls on is sit LBJ. And if we don't trade for AD before the deadline, we should do just that. Ideally we would also sit Kuzma, Hart, anyone who's even remotely injured.

dont want to trade the farm for AD? Tank!!!
with a top 4 pick we have enough value to not include all 3 young players.
hell with a Zion pick we have enough value to do a Zion+ Ingram+salary filler trade

Lakers now 13 in the lottery. Just 4 game distance to slip into bottom 10.

well there's certainly a pro-tank silver lining in terms of how disinterested our young guys are now

After this game I've changed my mind, we're not getting into the play-offs playing like this.

Shutdown LeBron.

Higher chance of the #1 pick than the 1.3% chance of making the playoffs tbh.

Don’t be fooled people. Magic leaked all the trade information so we can tank for #1 pick and use that to trade for AD in the summer. ( I am joking)

I wouldn't trade Zion for AD.

I was against this thread because I hate losing, and because I was tired of watching the Lakers become trash year after year. Imho this city is not about rebuilding through the draft, it's about always having the best players. However the way I see it now if this trade fails you guys are probably going to get your wish.

But this is not you win championship anymore. I can’t renember when’s the last championship team that doesn’t build through draft. It is not about what we are, it is about what’s the best way to build a team. If our way is the wrong way, why keep repeating it?

What is the 1.3% based on? The Lakers are getting in.

that may have been hyperbole but ESPN playoff probability currently has us at 9.3% odds. Current odds at a top 4 pick is 4.8% but drop a few more spots down the tank rankings and we'd be at over 20% chance. Considering the Clippers traded Tobias our odds should be higher now but we are competing with the Kings who have an easier strength of schedule going forward. And lets not forget making the playoffs at 8th seed only means you have the privilege of getting swept by the Warriors.
