Heated up is generous. I’d say he thawed out a tiny little bit but was still cold. Maybe trying too hard because Lebron and Co were there watching him. Wags looked decent making himself available on O, but his D wasn’t great.

Only seeing the box score, but it appears Mo Wagner is starting to find his stride in GLeague just a bit. Not bad 16 pts on 10 shots, only 24 minutes, only 2 turnovers, a steal, rebounds a bit light at 4, overall plus rating for the team during his minutes in the game.

More games like this Moe.

True on both accounts.

How about that? South Bay grabs first win of season

Quote:
The South Bay Lakers won their first game of the season in dramatic fashion as they beat the Iowa Wolves, 119-118, on Monday night. Alex Caruso hit the game-winning three for South Bay (1-3) to finish the night with a game-high 26 points. Jared Terrell paced the Wolves (0-5) with a team-high 25 points in the loss.

The South Bay Lakers fall to the Salt Lake City Stars, 113-104

*Isaac Bonga had 22 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 assists

Quote:
Johnathan Williams scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lakers (1-4) but it wasn’t enough to grab the win.
Naz Mitrou-Long posted a near triple-double for the Stars (3-2) as they beat the Lakers for the first time since moving to Salt Lake City.

he has the same rebound % as Caruso, and one of the worst defensive ratings on the team....not sure what he offers that we need.

Bonga was 6 of 16 from the field.

But Johnathan Williams shot 10 of 14, going 1 of 2 behind the arc, and finished with 24/10. Props to him.

Machado is gonna drive me to dispair. Even if it's G-League

I don't know why Karl trusts him in the 4th

The 5 stls and 4 asts, with only 2 TO stands out. It wasn't too long ago he was being whistled for a travel every time he touched the ball.

it kinda suprised me bonga is playing well but notice couple of things. 1) good stat didnt equal to a win so i dont know at wat level to rate the performance and 2) g league success dont translate straight to nba bc of limited play time and different teammates. its like asking you to change car from golf cart to F1 and expect to perform great. if they can score 10pts and 2reb 2 asst then its a huge success

Bonga had some nice flashes, on offense and defensively, but he is very raw.
IMO he is at least 2-3 years away from being an asset. His talent and potential are quite apparent. It's just going to take time.

Stat Line: Bonga 15 points on 6 - 18 FG, (1- 3 -3pfg), 5 reb, 2 assists

Jonathan Williams looks good at this level. He is consistent. JW had a double-double w/ 18 points, 11 rebounds and good defense.

I went to the Southbay vs Wolves game on Monday. There were a lot of cheerleaders running around, along with staff who take care of attendees and what not. Really nice looking facility. The ticket price was worth it to see some of the Laker banners and the court where they get to practice. They were giving away some Laker swag. They had food trucks and a alcohol bar.

There were only 15 rows of bleachers, probably seat about 400 people or so. A few seats were empty, so if you get a seat in the back, you can probably move down after the game starts. On the opposite side of the court they had court side seats and we saw Jeanie Buss, Kuzma, Lebron, Rondo and KCP & Zubac with his GF. I figure some of them were told to attend the game because they stayed up until the end. I saw the Laker veterans also giving some tips to the Southbay guys. In particular LeBron was giving some advice to Svi on how to score.

The Southbay Lakers didn't really play that well and were down for most of the game. At the end Caruso hit a game winning three pointer with seconds to go. We didn't get to see much of Bonga because he tweaked his ankle and kept exiting to get it taken care of. But it was a good game.

Wagner looked impressive from the three point line. He hit some really nice shots. He didn't look like he had much lift or athleticism. On defense there wasn't much to report. He was hustling and talking throughout the whole game. I saw him get in peoples faces and telling them what to do. Definitely has some leadership qualities. Wagner looked tired, and will need some time to get back into game shape.
