I'm hearing LaMelo Ball is returning to high school (somewhere in Ohio). I guess that means JBA is officially over

Seems to be the best place to showcase what he has? Haven't heard of the school though. _________________ 👊 Los Angeles Lakers 👊

Back to the education route he goes....better than the no school route for his older brother which resulted in no basketball job or future employment opportunities. |

Wonder if this flies with the NCAA? LaVar did alot of damage to this kids career. |

Doesn't matter. G-League has the alternative route. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

That’s a much tougher jump to make though. We don’t even know if he would dominate the competition in college. He isn’t even as good as LiAngelo yet. |

If Lamelo plays well in High School, goes to the G-League and continues to play well, a team will take a chance on him. All he's got to do really is stay out of trouble. Talent's all there. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Hmmm...he hired an agent as well.

I wonder if other schools in Spire’s league will contest this. Can high schoolers hire agents? I mean they have Gaines on camera negotiating deals for Melo on Ball in the Family don’t they? |

it is a private school...plays mostly a national schedule....or at least travels a lot for tournaments like Oak Hill and others. He has some really good and interesting teammates....
Isaiah Jackson - a 5 Star 6'9" PF - Junior - #1 Player in Ohio 2020 Class
Rocket Watts - a high 4 Star 6'2" CG - Senior - #1 Player in Ohio 2019 Class
and Robert Bobroczky, the tallest high school basketball player in America @ 7'7"!

sadly he will get better development here than those other leagues he played in. Playing in those circus games was a huge waste of time and likely already cemented in some very bad habits. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

You remember him at Chino Hills? It was no less a circus. |

He could have developed better in Lithuania if he tried listening to his coach and stopped trying to shoot ridiculous shots thinking he was Stephen Curry. He looked completely uncoachable and LaVar encouraging him didn’t help. He was a very dumb, selfish player and that needs to change if he wants to succeed at anywhere besides high school. |

The kid developed bad habits in the JBA and seems to have an attitude issue. |

Looks like at least two schools have already backed out of playing SPIRE due to LaMelo’s controversial status. Apparently some schools are arguing their own eligibility would be in jeopardy if they play a game with LaMelo on the court, even if he was on the opponents squad.
Quote: | Oak Hill is led by Cole Anthony — a top 3 player in the class of 2019 — but the school was not willing to play the game against SPIRE if LaMelo was on the court. According to head coach Steve Smith, LaMelo playing in the game — even if he didn’t get paid as a professional, which is dubious because he signed a contract — would have jeopardized his entire team’s eligibility in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA).
He told the Washington Post:
“I just told them, ‘We can’t jeopardize our school and our association and our affiliation with conferences,” Smith said. “They understood. I said we can play them if [Ball] doesn’t play, but they weren’t willing to do that.” |

^^^^that just sounds weird to me.....do not recall a team being punished for playing against a team with an ineligible player. |

A college degree is invaluable. Sports is a maybe. I don't know it to be true but I sense LaVar living vicariously through his sons. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Thing is though the jump from high school to the G League is HUUUUUGE. High school is basically playing against kids. He can get away with his moronic plays against kids.
G League is against grown men that are experienced professionals and it’s a big step up from even college ball. If Lamelo can get on a team there and succeed it would be impressive. He would have to be A LOT better than he was in Lithuania. One thing he has going for him is he has time to grow up.
Talent isn’t everything. He still needs a brain, needs to be a team player, needs some effort on defense and needs to hit some shots. |

Maybe no team has tried it before? Hypothetically, lets say a high school team agreed to an exhibition against the Rio Grande Vipers, would that cause a problem for them in their high school governing body? |
